'The Daleks are back in a dramatic new trailer for the upcoming seventh series of ‘Doctor Who', and can be viewed over on the BBC.
A new promotional image has been released too, starring a battle-worn Doctor (Matt Smith) holding assistant Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) in his arms. It's an image more akin to a Hollywood blockbuster than the British sci-fi series.
'Opening episode ‘Asylum Of The Daleks’ promises more of the classic sci-fi villains than we’ve ever seen before and the return of some fan favourites like Special Weapons Dalek, who can be seen in the middle on the left.
That episode will be followed up with adventures featuring the return of the Weeping Angels and a curiously bonkers episode titled ‘Dinosaurs On A Spaceship’, something the Doctor is very excited about in the trailer.'

I can’t wait for this season. Steven Moffatt has really taken the show back to the dark, creepy direction of the original series. Heck, the Doctor (with help from River) is actually killing monsters again!
Under the last producer, Russell T. Davies, it had gotten boring. He also had a habit of putting gay subplots in almost every episode. Unlike most fans, I was glad when he and David Tennant left. They had run out of ideas.
I agree re RTD. Not with Tennant, I’d have loved him to stay.
Me?. I was never a Who fan growing up. I respected its place in British TV, and watched some of it. But never became a fan until 2005.
Here’s the twist: I have ALWAYS been a huge fan of the two Dr Who films from the 60’s with the wonderful Peter Cushing.
But River Song steals the show. I kinda love how she breaks out of the joint AT WILL! And hey, for British freepers, as she would put it "Spoilers!"

I began watching Dr Who when Pertwee was the Doctor. My favorite of all the Doctors was Tom Baker ... until David Tenant took over. Matt Smith is doing an astonishingly good job! But I must confess that River (Alex) looks a lot like my first wife ... and I still have a crush on her. At 67 this summer, I truly look forward to the episodes. Wish I could afford to purchase the entire series, with all the doctors. I dropped Comcast cable to get Direct TV, mostly for BBC America and Dr Who!

Doctor Who has had some astounding episodes...Blink, Silence In The Library, incredible sci fi.
And Matt Smith is great as the new Doctor even though, sorry...bow ties are NOT cool!

Does wife no 2 know that?.
No longer married. Wife number two is a great Lady, also. She just can’t get a handle on what money is, what it’s meant for, and how difficult it can be to accumulate it. Her kids are/were the reason for separation. Now, she has to deal with them all by her self. She’s learning one great lesson after another! ... and I’m not having to deal with the things she would not acknowledge.
Think of the bowtie as a substitute for Tom Baker’s ‘club scarf’, or David Tenants overcoat, or Eccleston’s leather coat ... the square factor is appropriate for the ‘seemingly absent minded’ Doctor.
Neither are fezes.
Y’know, that makes sense!

Comcast added BBC America to it’s standard package about a year ago or less.
On a side note, BBCAmerica is running lots of past episodes from seasons going back to the moder season one, with Eccleston. I have been VCR ing them and find it interesting that they have avoided showing certain episodes, preferring instead to just re-run already shown episodes from a couple of weeks previous and showing sequels out of sequence. I intend to take the episodes from VCR to disc anyway, so I can get them into proper sequence when I recopy. I want to have my own accumulation of Whovian episodes going back to the entire Pertwee, through Baker and up to the present Matt Smith (and Alex/River, of course). There has been some very good writing throughout the long run of Who. There has also been some drek, and the incursion of perversion was most telling of the filthy minds which switched to writing for the degenerate Torchwood series.
I wish the BBC would let Netflix stream them. You can get almost all of every Star Trek streamed these days.
I got really hooked in college. By the early 1980’s in Fayetteville, AR (Go Hogs!) we got both AR public TV and OK public TV.
Both showed a lot of Dr. Who, mostly Tom Baker but some Pertwee, We’d get a 30 min episode daily on both channels, usally the most current and on the weekends both would show hours of a full series.
Remember the plot where Baker was ending up back on the same space station in different time periods? The AR PBS ran that in order on several Sundays that were 3 hours long.
I hate Torchwood. Forget the gayness, the plots are awful.
I have a plot story for a River Song/Dr Who episode that I would love to share with the writers for Who, but have no idea how to get in touch with them. So, I’m just making a novel out of the plotline.
