Same first letter last name Not since 1856 for Dems, never for GOP ticket & Will Ryan resign now?
Vanity

For trivial reasons- Dems had Buchanan & Breckinridge .in 1856.

Will Ryan need to quit the Congress now. I know he would not choose to run for reelection to Congress as well. Even if it were legal in Wisconsin.

Lyndon Johnson ran for Senate an Vice president in the same election and was elected to both. I don’t remember whether they had a special election to fill his Senate seat, or if the seat was filled by short term appointment until the next election. I certainly hope that Ryan would NOT
resign his seat in the House, if it is legal for him to run for both positions. Knowing Paul, however, I think that he WOULD resign out of a sense of dedication to his district.

"Lyndon Johnson ran for Senate an Vice president in the same election..."

As did Democrats VP candidates Joe Biden (2008) John Edwards (2004) Joe Lieberman (2000)& Lloyd Bentsen (1988). The Senate term of all was expiring and all reran simultaneously. They all lost the VP but won their Senate relection and served the following term.

Edwards was a one term Senator. He did not run for reelection.

Correct. I posted to quickly for this time of morning. I also mistakenly wrote that “all lost” when Biden won both the VP & Senate.

You were just confused. Biden won, WE lost.

He could ask still-serving, Joe Lieberman about the resignation question.
