I am in need of great places to stay that will not break the bank. I recall many months ago a thread that showed some very nice inexpensive places to stay in the Disney area.
One of the sites actually had a sort for 3 bedroom, 4 bedroom, 5 bedroom or more. I loved the site, but never thought I would be going. I didn't bookmark it and I just can not find it again!
Freepers please help and/or pass this along to anyone you know that has touted their stay. Thank you very much!
it was probably vrbo.com
you’ll want to stay near SR 535. Grand Cypress is a nice place to stay. Very near downtown Disney and the resorts.
We have used a site called VacationRentals.com with great success. The really good thing about the site is the feedback and descriptions. Many times, you can get in touch with the owner via a telephone number. Good luck!
We’ve stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Villages (located at 12401 International Drive) and had plenty of space for four. The kitchen makes for easy breakfasts before hitting the parks. It’s on the trolly line and has a shuttle to the parks.
We’ve had good success with vrbo.com for several rentals.
Florida resident and frequent Disney visitor advice:
Forget a hotel or condo and rent a cabin at Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont.
In addition to having non-Disney stuff to do (swimming/fishing/trails/canoes), you can save a ton of money by cooking breakfast and dinner and avoid eating out as much.
Around $120 per night and sleeps up to 6 (I think).
It has one of the best beaches in the world....Siesta Key and they have one of the finest museums in the world in the Ringling museum
As well many fine restaurants and it is close to Tampa...
Vacation Rentals By Owner
used them several time, good experiences
If you are going to Disney between October and Dec 20, you may want to stay at Disney resorts. They have a free dining plan with hotel stay and purchase of theme park tickets. Go to Disney.com to see the dates and deal. This is very good, you get to eat at all the Disney restaurants, one sit down and one fast food restaurant per day, plus a snack. You can use the credits however you like, two quick service one day and two sit down restaurants the next, for example. You have to buy the package with hotel plus tickets all at the same time, though. I have done this several times and it always is a good deal. We never spend any money on food. Spending the credits is like ‘spending’ money, since we can get snacks, too. Also, if you are staying at Disney, you can use their transportation, and they pick you up at the airport for free.
Thanks everyone!
Trip is hopefully being planned for December 17-25.
There will be 5 of us, so room is essential. All pretty much adults since my youngest will be 18 at the time. We already have our Disney tickets which were free through our Disney Visa. Love that card!
We definitely want to visit Universal since we are all Harry Potter fans. I will definitely check out all of the suggestions. If anyone else wishes to post suggestions, please feel free. I will search this all to the death of me.
We haven’t been on a vacation since my youngest was 11, so this is very exciting for me.
“... so this is very exciting for me”.
I am excited for you, jcsjcm! Research all the sites (make a pot of coffee or two) and enjoy.
Oh, sorry, just realized you were looking mainly for accommodation info. Well, that site may still give you lots of info. We have used VRBO for many rentals, Florida & otherwise, usually with great results. (YMMV!!)
