**Of Course Culture Matters**

"A look at the different cultures of the world will tell you that not all people are capable of such a thing, and that we should not take our own success for granted. Why is the West so great? Is it because of natural resources? Lots of countries are rich in natural resources. Is it because of colonialism and its ravages? The West was dominant even before colonization and imperialism. Surely culture is a major factor in what makes for success."

"It's not just some macro-economic or international idea; even within our country, communities with a strong work ethic, an emphasis on family, God, and service, thrive. Even at the individual level, we have all seen examples of how hard-working, virtuous people eventually create their own luck....Of course some cultures are better than others. Not only is it acceptable for us to proclaim that, but it is our duty: the culture of life is superior to the culture of death, the culture of family is superior to the culture of selfishness, the culture of entrepreneurship is superior to the culture of dependency."......As Chesterton said, "when you abolish God, government becomes God."

The continent of Africa is loaded with natural resources. It obviously takes more than that.

Good old GK Chesterton. Studies indicate that about 78% of the poor are headed by households in which a teen mother without a HS education is the founder. She’s able to build that household because of welfare benefits garnered by her giving birth. At what point to we admit that a culture of rewarding bad decisions is cruel and destructive?

Maybe it had something to do with those individuals that gave up everything to sit in a dingy, dirty ship for months on end risking disease and lost/death at sea knowing there was NOTHING here to rescue them. No welfare, no unemployment, no central heating, no nothing.. What courage and determination it took. We have culture, a culture we inherited from the founding citizens. But we have allowed that culture to be diluted with 3rd world, me first mentalities. It has nothing to do with money, it has everything to do with spirit and determination.

When the ends of such cruelty and destruction are achieved, and the subsequent generation is removed from any propensity to vengeance.

I'm sorry, I believe you are referring to faith. Faith in oneself, faith in the results of consistent effort, faith in an invested future, perhaps even faith in God.

You are peddling a discredited and archaic romanticism, Comrade. I am sure that on reflection you will realize the mindless insincerity of such reactionary emptiness. You need not apologize, for I know your efforts are well-meant even if disharmonious to the blended song of progress.

Ugh. Even I want to rinse my mouth out after that effort at sarcasm. Reminds me of the nasty skits that Mad TV used to do: "People Really Live This Way".

People really think this way.

Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted. Vladimir Lenin
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Lenin understood that if you had the children you have the culture.

SO????....Why do Christians and conservatives continue to send their precious children into to the godless government owned and run socialist-entitlement K-12 indoctrination camps???

All it would take in many counties and some entire states is for conservatives and Christians to remove their kids and the whole godless indoctrination camps system would instantly collapse.

I don’t think God is happy with the U.S. and my bet is that He is especially annoyed with Christians and conservatives. They do ( or should) know better.
