That wouldn’t matter to ND. They have students from every faith.
Virtually all sports "journalists" are burgeoning leftist scribblers or talking heads. i.e. Keith Olbermann and Mike Lupica. ESPN has this guy named Dan Lebatard who a first years ago asked a man who knew Tiger Woods when Woods was going to get involved with social justice. I wanted to throw a brick through the radio.
In the demented minds of the leftist scribblers, the non-white percentage of professional athletes is still being treated like slaves in the cotton fields and the team sports owners are Simon Legrees. They can't get off the idea of oppressed minorities and evil owners and a white-dominated society keeping non-whites down. And this if after Michael Jordan owns a sports team and numerous minority athletes are multi-multi millionaires. And in the case of Woods a billionaire.
Just wondering; the Notre Dame degree used to be really worth something, unlike many big football schools. What about now? Are they just another academy of basket weaving and finger painting interpretation? Or are the athletes well prepared for the real world after grauation?
Your post #5 seems to have answered my query.
“That wouldnt matter to ND. They have students from every faith.”
This was the 60’s and I was a Conservadox Jew.
My Dad used to say that if Notre Dame put 11 paraplegic nuns on the field as their team, some asshat would still rank them in the Top 10.
What’s your point? :)
I am a Notre Dame alum, so I am biased. An ND degree is probably worth even more today than it was 35 years ago, as the undergraduate student body is even stronger academically now. There are no “joke” majors, no “eligibility” tracks. Everyone who graduates has had to pass some serious courses to make it.
Having said that, I despise the ND Board of Trustees and wish that all of them would resign today. John “Iscariot” Jenkins seems to be nothing more than an impostor in a Roman collar, and needs to go. It is no surprise that the football team is on the skids; it is coached by a pro-abortion punk who looks like he is a candidate to suffer a stroke on the sidelines.
Rick Reilly, I think, is a Northwestern guy; very few of them have much of a regard for us (and the feeling is mutual, I don’t have much respect for “the mistake on the lake”). What Reilly says or writes can be taken with a grain of salt. However, we are on our way to another 8-5 season; I’d love to be wrong about this and ND exceed my expectations, but I don’t think so.
I am a Notre Dame alum, so I am biased. My husband is an ND alum as well, '81, and he weighed in here (warning: he's seen Rudy "numerous" times:)) on Reilly. He also covered today's game (Go Ireland! Irish sinks Navy..) here: http://www.rantsports.com/lacesout/2012/09/01/go-ireland-notre-dame-sinks-navy-50-10-in-dublin-drubbing/
