Georgia woman who rescued animals killed in dog attack

A Georgia college student who cared for abandoned animals for nearly a decade was attacked and killed by a dog, police said.

Rebecca Carey, 23, was killed at her Decatur home sometime over the weekend, MyFoxAtlanta.com reports.

Authorities said Carey, who worked with dogs since she was a young teenager, had five dogs living with her at the time of her death. They included a pit bull, which she had owned for six years, a boxer mix and a Presa, a large Spanish breed. She was also dogsitting another Presa for a friend.

Carey’s body was discovered Sunday afternoon after she failed to show up for work at Alpharetta’s Loving Hands Animal Clinic. The dogs that she was caring for in her home were euthanized on Wednesday. It was unclear which dog killed Carey.

The article says it is not known which dog was responsible, but immediately the Pit is blamed. Any dog breed that is bred without concern is capable of this. First it was the Dobermans, then the Rotty’s, now it is kill all the Pits. Check the history of our pets, the Pitbull was the premier family dog of the thiries and forties!Go to any dog park and you will see joyfull loving Pitbulls and also note that the agressive dogs are almost always the little breeds!

You are using “fact” numbers froma blog that I have been directed to look at before, and if you do just a little bit of digging...you will find that the person who runs that blog is an out and out PB hater.

EVERY dog, given the right circumstances WILL bite, as will a grown adult.

But it is still pathetic how everytime someone has a dog bite story it is automatically...the Pit Bull.

The Scales are the Vets, I used to have a Black Dobie who weighed 130# and He lived a Great life. I know that Pit Bulls are owned By Thugs and such...Yes it IS the Animal, Dog on Dog, aggression that is bad. I Hope w/ proper breading they can Breed it out of them. Owners are the Problem, Now as far as intelligence and the Pit...well...as a Breed... Not Tops. And Yes the AKC recognizes how smart My Dobies are... :)
