When people think of baby boomers, they instantly think of the hippie freaks and their idiotic behavior. The majority is outweighed by the more visible minority in this case. Also, it suits hippie nostalgia to keep pumping the flower children over the actual accomplishments of the era.

Vast majority of kids at Woodstock were not hippies. Most were from small town, middle class America.

That looks like Moochie Obama's dress on Moonbeam.

What a horrible, disgusting and embarrassing moment in American history, certainly NOT the greatest American's. That was the INCEPTION of IDIOCRACY, like "wowie, man, cool".

And to think many of them BRED obama voters. Sadly too is many of them never grew up as example of the picture you posted. I think maybe Sturgis took Woodstocks place.

Well, I grew up 35 mi from Kent State and you are correct, the vast majority of people were horrified by the protesters.
We weren’t all hippies.
Even if we did go to KSU or go to shows there.
That reminds me, I crashed a Manfred Mann/Lynyrd Skynyrd ishow at KSU.
I had purchased a ticket but my girlfriends brother had them and the dork never showed up with the tickets.

Yes, the media has overplayed the hippie/drugs/political aspects of WS, although that element was certainly there.

Most were common HS and college kids.

All that said, the hippie/drugs/politics of that time left its negative mark on the kids of that generation and the country in general.

Vast majority of what was reported and shown, and what is indelibly linked to Woodstock is: HIPPIES.
Vast majority of what it stood for and the message it sent was for and from hippies.
It is not and was not something that a conservative should be boosting or celebrating.

BTW, the Greatest generation produced the Beats, the Beat Generation and Beatnicks.
William S Burroughs, Rod McKuen, and Jack Kerouac.

Yes, lovely Woodstock and its successor, Altamont. From littering to homicide in just a few short months. This is “my generation” and I am completely embarrassed by the fact that so many have refused to grow up. There’s nothing worse than an aging hippie, still thinking that being cool is where it’s at. Or children today being forced to wear clothes with peace signs all over them because that’s all that’s available in the Walmart children’s section (I recently experienced this phenomenon and just about threw up!). Having all this cow manure still foisted off on us after 40 years is unbelievable! When will this infestation of the progressive meme end? It’s like a pox on every aspect of our lives.

It was 43 years ago and I’m sorry I missed it. You really need to lighten up, man. Maybe seek professional help.

I was in grade school at the time. I remember the grinning idiot of a teacher when she decided to play the album in class so she would look hip.

Country Joe wiped that smile smooth off her face!

And the Warren Court and Great Society and so forth

As a peak year boomer....1957.....we blamed our folks for being stodgy more than anything

There was a huge culture gap then and boomer numbers dwarfed everything

But real hippies and yippies were a small college town minority then

Most kids at Woodstock likely vote GOP now statistically....white Christian of the 1945-1965 birth group sure do

It was not like young folks today think it was

In some ways yes....the draft and civil rights..yes

But like i said earlier.....zero political correctness.....no gay crap....abortion illegal

It was big spend liberalism in both parties largely but nearly everyone but fringe was socially moderate to conservative in practice

Fun fact is most hippies and communes were chauvinistic

Get a copy of Brands Whole Earth Catalog
Sort of a time capsule...

Truth is we are much more lefty today and under 30s today voted Obama but DID NOT for McGovern-Shriver in 1972

It was not exactly how urban NYC writers today claim it was
