News headlines over the past few years have linked cat ownership to everything from cancer to craziness, but new studies suggest that cats are actually beneficial to human health, and may even reduce our risk for cancer and other diseases.
Reports in this week's issue of Biology Letters, for example, counter the tabloid-suggested link between cats and human brain cancer.
Marion Vittecoq of the Tour du Valat research center and her colleagues conclude that cats should not be blamed for human cancer. In fact, studies show just the opposite.
Vittecoq told Discovery News that "according to our knowledge, studies that have focused on the link between cancer and cat ownership so far have found either no association at all or a reduced risk of cancer in cat owners."...

And tasty, too.
I’m sorry. My four dogs made me write that.
I can’t say much about Miss Kitty’s future health since she has decided my pillow is her box.

I’m going with “no association”
I don’t like cats. They are not communal creatures by nature.
That said, we picked up three kittens from a neighbor to be outdoor cats to keep field mice away. They clawed up the chair legs of our wicker porch furniture. We got rid of them after four days.
Except the ‘not being able to breath’ part.
On a 0 - 5 allergy scale, the Doc actually recorded a SIX, in my medical records.
Yeah....porch furniture is much more important and better company than Gods beautiful felines. You have a big heart...and such good logical morals.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
;-)
My cat (the REAL Renfield) often makes me sneeze when he jumps on my lap.

Opinions vary. ;-)
LOL @ injecting “morals” into our decision.
In this rare case it was not an improvement. ;-)
We’ll put up with chicken poop on some of the stuff since they give us eggs. And the baby goat just makes a lot of noise when it gets up there. But it’s meat. I prefer mouse traps to cats. But my wife disagreed until the furniture got it.
Tell that to Norm McDonald....
You’ll have to explain that one to me.
Is Miss Kitty an elderly girl, or just obnoxious?
“logical morals”
Oh, ya.....decisions on cat ownership are “moral” decisions....
Good Grief!
