Hurricane Isaac

Posted on 08/26/2012 8:12:04 AM PDT by wolfman23601

NHC has been slow to adjust their forecast, but models in the last 24week hours have been indicating a possible Cat 3 hitting New Orleans. While dems have been rooting for the Tampa landfall to ruin our convention, a NO landfall catastrophe with Jindal running circles around 0, while 0 is playing politics during the aftermath... maybe it is their convention that gets ruined. I am certainly not rooting for a disaster, but it would certainly be ironic.

It’s not a hurricane, it’s a tropical storm. Biden withdrew from Tampa because he realized how childish it would look to campaign there during the GOP Convention, not because of the ‘hurricane’. Unfortunately, his withdrawal faked out the GOP and they decided to cancel the first day of their convention.

Its been pulling more an more westward, as I knew it would, because the GFS model, historically the more accurate, has been showing that for days now. Tampa will get, at worst, 30 mph winds and gusts, monday and tuesday rain, clearing up by wednesday.

That forecast is going to probably even get better as the day goes on and the storm tracks more westward.

You are right, New Orleans is my guess at this point.

Coverage of this thing is pathetic.
Has it been too long since we’ve had one?
The MSM is making it to be worse than the zombie apocalypse.

How did Mike Siedel of the Weather Channel legally travel to Cuba to cover this event. Isn’t there a federal ban on citizens traveling to that Communist state?

I am still stunned, all these years later, at how the Democrats and liberals in the MSM, through their biased coverage, politicized a hurricane.

I am still stunned, also, that the obvious shortcomings of Democrats Nagin and Blanco, in handling the disaster in New Orleans, were basicially ignored by the MSM and liberals and Democrats. Instead, everything was blamed on Bush.

Liberals were not persuaded by such legalisms, such as state governors having to formally request federal disaster aid and all that, when coping with natural disasters. Instead, liberals thought that Bush should have been in New Orleans from Day One, directing traffic.

Thankfully the media continues to lose influence. But they planted a powerful narrative that Bush was inept, which affected Bush for the remainder of his term.

It is a tropical storm about to hit the same spot most storms explode over and models are suggesting a Cat 3 landfall/stall over Louisiana. If these models verify, it will be worse than Katrina.

My son goes to school in St Pete. They were planning to evacuate the school, but just called it off 30 minutes ago. They will get water and wind, but nothing bad.

One thing I have learned fomr this is that people at the NHC are being paid for nothing.

They can’t predict anything.

And the NAM is garbage with tropical systems so it is really 4/5 and I expect the UK to move toward the concensus over the next several runs.

Bet the farm Jindal doesn’t cancel the school bus fleet in favor of a more appropriate form of bus line that never shows up.

Worse than Katrina? How do you figure? Katrina hit at 125 mph, and that wasn’t that bad, its the levee failure that caused the disaster. Those have been rebuilt to a much higher standard.

They actually usually do pretty well with the track, but they may have blown this one, at least in the long range. Louisiana wasnt even in the cone of uncertainty until this morning.
