Some countries require organizations to give their employees vacation leave. This infographicbrought to you by the employee leave and FMLA experts at Employment law HQhave created a graphic showing common (and some not so common) countries and their vacation requirements. Where does your country rank?
I’m not sure if the vacations are PAID vacations in other countries...
Some industries do require vacations as a way to reduce chances of fraud and embezzlement, especially in accounting.
Emperor 0bama has a bigger plan - just put everyone out of work!
The government should have no say at all what vacation time people get, unless they work for the government.
Of course, that is part of their plan.
Good. It means that we still have some semblance of a free country. The government has no right to dictate to private businesses to give their employers vacation time.
Even if they are "paid" that just means that your employer will reduce your pay when you are working to make up for paying you when you aren't.
Brazil is an up and coming country and gives 30 days a year. Not bad. America????? lol. Our companies would never go for mandatory 30 days of vacation.
Exactly where it should - at zero requirement. It's called FREEDOM, what's left of it anyway.
Every time I see someone comparing our country’s entitlements with others, I reply “How many of those countries can defend themselves, let alone others?”.
Those countries are freeloading on us.
When I’m King we are going to have a 4 day work weeks of 10 hour days
I worked this schedule on several jobs so far and I could enjoy working that way for the rest of my life
RE: I worked this schedule on several jobs so far and I could enjoy working that way for the rest of my life
You must really like what you do... what’s your profession anyway?
I was on a 4 / 10 workweek from 1992 until I retired at the end of 2011, with every Monday off. We all liked it after we got used to the longer days. No traffic in the AM, but 5PM rush hour was a bugger.
What is this va-ca-tion thing, and how does it work?
The last day I had off was for kidney surgery, and that was months ago(ONE day).
Yep. Several weeks of PAID vacation are the law in the EU.
It’s why companies are so loathe to hire anyone over there.
Timeshare salesmen use that graph to coerce prospects to buy several weeks of Timeshare property, and put themselves in debt for life!
It’s like,”SEE, The REST of the World KNOWS you HAVE to take a vacation every year! Americans just don’t GET IT!”
It hgas been used on me MANY times. LOL.
hgas = has
There is nothing wrong with the conceot that having some vacation time away from work once a year is a good idea.
What is also not so bad of an idea is the “social agenda” for “vacation time” if exercised totally by what we as individuals and we as institutions believe in supporting, in our Liberty.
The bad idea is using the law to make that social agenda a legal mandate.
The moral social agenda leaves it to us to “change society” by ourselves, and by our free and independent institutions freely making what are believed to be “good choices”, with respect for Liberty for all.
The socialist agenda marries “society” and the tyranny of the heavy hand of unlimited government, killing Liberty and all the social dynamic freedom to arise within it and simply forcing an academic and elitist view of “what’s right”, which also denies diversity and makes the concept of tolerance an irrelevant sham, for when all think alike the very need for tolerance is gone.
Lol. Of course they are. I always chuckle that we are subsidizing their vacations and welfare state thru our foreign policy. As if we should go into debt for some European party time.
I worked in Germany for a month.
Told the manager I’d come in on the weekend to get stuff done during my limited time there.
He told me not to ... he’d be arrested if I did.
