My son must find a political cartoon of the 1st Amendment for his US History class.

Any recommendations?

Not a cartoon, but Norman Rockwell's painting of the man standing to speak at a town meeting is wonderful.

The work of Ding Darling, cartoonist for the Des Moines Register back in the 1930s and 40s, might be worth a look...

Have your son go to loc.gov - Library of Congress. Search digital collections for Herb Block. You should find a blue billion hits. Encourage him to search for himself

The First Amendment is about far more than free speech. Its significance is found in the first five words: "Congress shall make no law" - that blunt limitation of government is a bit of effrontery, really, and our Beltway betters find it highly inconvenient. Too bad. It is a line in the sand.

The first two panels in this are apropos. I have a bit of difficulty with the formulation "freedom from" anything but I'll let Rockwell make his own case:

Actually, 1st amendment cartoons that are not liberal propaganda are hard to find. Here's one I found. I'm fully in favor of protecting Biden's 1st amendment rights. Let the man talk!

I heard a great quote the other day: A mad man may kill a dozen people but a dictator will kill a million.
