FULL TITLE: Amish bishop accused of hair-cutting attacks 'forced women to have sex with him to make them better wives'

An Amish bishop accused of orchestrating hair-cutting attacks in Ohio coerced women at his settlement into having sex with him so he could turn them into better wives, a court has heard.

A woman has testified that what started out as hugs turned into kisses and then sex, which she said she resisted at first.

Prosecutors say the alleged sexual 'counseling' of married women shows the control Samuel Mullet Sr. had over followers at the Amish settlement he founded two decades ago.

'He would say things like `I can't understand why you won't obey me, the other ladies can,' the woman said.

'I always gave up. I was afraid not to.'

The 16 people accused of carrying out the hair-cutting attacks last fall all lived on Mullet's settlement in Bergholz, eastern Ohio near the West Virginia panhandle.

Just goes to show that every religion has a “David Koresh”.

Amish, Muslims.....is it just me, or does it seem that the more a religion makes a big public show out of women’s modesty and chastity, the more really seemy stuff is actually going on behind the curtain?

I've lived among the Amish growing up for the first 20 years of my life..it's not all what it appears. Lot's of domestic abuse and sexual abuse of children but it is covered up and they rarely call the police.

We had a case 4-5 years ago a guy was messing with his young daughters..they tried prayer/ etc and tried to solve things in house but it finally got so bad the Elders called the local police and hauled him off.

Don't get me wrong, most are great people but it's not all wine and roses. Amish are people with the same faults as everyone else. There are honest ones and ones I would not turn my back on Some are very good craftsman and some so lousey I would not have them build a dog house.

The Old Order Amish are an "apostolic' type of organization, so you must obey the deacons and elders ~ I think that's the guy being described as a 'bishop'.

Failure to obey has some serious consequences ~ you might, for example, need to get out and find a job with only an 8th grade education!

Add to that wearing unusual clothing and speaking a sort of English or German others find difficult to understand.

It's a way to turn your fellow human beings into chattel slaves, and hold them there. Back in the old days before the Civil War, blacks not only used Gullah and Geetchi (languages) they were REQUIRED to use those languages in many areas. Made it nearly impossible to escape the plantations.

Modern life among many Amish and Plain People can be tantamount to slavery ~ there's nothing voluntary about it.

See my post #5. I've also noticed the very attractive/hot/pretty Amish women tend to leave the faith and become "English"

You know I am glad they tried prayer first. There comes a time when even they should realize someone is too evil to house and just call the police.

I would equate it with the priest pedophile scandals in my own Catholic Church. The more one can hide behind the facade of modesty and chastity, the more it provides cover for those with impure intent.

“Just goes to show that every religion has a “David Koresh”.”

Don’t give O and Holder an excuse. You don’t want their deaths on your head. The guilty in Washington never take the blame.

“The more one can hide behind the facade of modesty and chastity,”

I think the Bible had something to say about that subject and others that many puritans fail to heed.

And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

Luke 12:48-49

This Bishop may have wished he had rather been a strip club manager at the Judgement.

If they actually read their bibles, they would know that a woman is only subject to obeying her husband, she should have brought the matter before her husband.

You caught that too?!?! You literally can’t make this stuff up. Life is comedy sometimes.

Sounds like the guy may have some deep hair issues.
