That’s one reason I take my 6 gallon boat out only once or twice a season. And that’s with draining the last quart or so out of the two-stroke bikes and recycling it in the outboard. But I do make the most of the boat trip or two and really enjoy them. Many people just shut the motor off and float down the Columbia here after the trip upstream. I can always judge summer gas prices by seeing how many boats are drifting. Problem with boats is there’s really no way to economize much other than turning off the ignition or idling. Once that hull drops off plane you’re not saving any gas. Premium non-ethanol 4.29 here or was yesterday.

I just moved in to a lake home. I have more friends than I know what to do with all of the sudden. “You have a boat? lets go fishing! lets go skiing! lets go tubing!!”

So, it was fun the first weekend.. the second was alright..

This weekend when they showed up I said “boats down there, grab the tank, gas station is 1 mile that way, go to the unleaded pump that is 4.25 a gallon.”

They all changed their minds ;)

I have a small fleet of boats (I go to auctions and can’t say no to a 250 dollar complete boat) the best of the bunch has a 4 stroke EFI engine. It’s the best on gas but you can still watch the level go down in the tank when your using it hard.
