Me I keep some small bils, but I have a bucket of change (lots of quaters). If I am able to make any last minute purchases say a two gallon container of gasoline if I pay for it with a handfull of change anyone watching isn’t going to consider me worth robbing other than maybe the gasoline itself, where as some one pulling out a wade of bills would be like throwing blood in the water.

Plus the change actually has some value in the metal they contain, plus quaters make great shotgun loads for zombies. :-)

Quarters? How do you get quarters in a 12gauge? Or what gauge are you talking of?

That brings up a good point: if you are going to be bugging out with a large wad of cash, be sure to only keep a hundred or so in smaller bills in your wallet, and the rest of the cash in multiple places on your person and in your vehicle. Replenish your wallet from one of your discrete stashes ONLY when you are in a place of privacy.

Also, remember that if you keep cash in the house, to rotate it occasionally, spending the older bills and replacing them with newer currency from the bank. Paying for gas with a couple of twenty-year-old bills may attract notice.

Just what kind of shotgun are you shooting? A quarter is 0.955" in diameter, a 12gage bore measures 0.729", a 10ga is 0.775", an 8ga is .835", and a 4ga is 1.052". A dime at 0.705" and might fit a 12ga and a penny at 0.750 might fit a 10ga but they be could be tight in the shell casings. That doesn't allow for a choke either.

I saw a 4ga once. It was about 8 feet long and had a swivel like an oarlock about halfway down the barrel. The owner called it a "punt gun" and said it was used for duck hunting from a small rowboat (a "punt"). I gathered the idea was to find a raft of ducks sitting on the water and sneak up on them through the weeds, then let loose with your single (black powder) shot and gather up the dead ducks. Don't know when it was last used as hunting with anything larger than 10ga. is now illegal.

Regards,
GtG
