I don’t have an answer for you there ,, I save webpages all the time (ctrl+S) , usually in “.MHT” type , works well and saves the page as a single file. If saved on the web you could direct people to it if you think you’ll lose content due to the original page changing..

Simple. Right click your mouse over the page. Then click “View Page Source.” Highlight the area on the Page Source from where the text begins until where it ends. Then paste. It is okay to highlight a little more of the page source because you can delete that when you get ready to post. I do this all the time.

I have used this tool before to archive a website.

http://www.httrack.com/

HTTrack Website Copier

HTTrack is a free (GPL, libre/free software) and easy-to-use offline browser utility.

It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site’s relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the “mirrored” website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.

Thank you both. I think PJ’s method is going to work more efficiently for me.

Use Firefox, and select text to be copied, and right click and choose “View Selection Source,” wait a bit and then copy the highlighted text and paste. See preview first before posting. Sometimes you have to copy the coding just before the beginning of the highlighted text.

Pray and post that which is good.

Hey! Now I learned something new. I didn’t know you could highlight the text first and then right click to see just that text in “View Selection Source.”

If using the ‘view source’ method make sure the embedded links work. Sometime when copying them they don’t have the complete URL address. Thus you’ll have to copy each URL and substitute it into the copied material.

I should have asked this question here 6 months ago!

Thank God for such helps. I thought of it as my “secret,” a way for me to post complex html when i do not really know much coding (and my stiff fingers make typing slow).

If you do coding, then the BBCodeXtra extension, compatible for FireFox may be useful, as it which adds to the text fields’ context menu new commands to insert BBCode/Html/XHtml and custom tags in an easy and fast way.

i can also r. clk on a link and chose “copy as html link,” with the “copy as html’ extension.

Then there is the “Count n Character” or “Count Word Professional” extn which gives you the number of selected characters and words.

Also, the Google/Yandex search link fix 1.4 for copying links from Google searches, as this extension prevents Google Search from modifying result links when they are clicked.

And try the beautiful NoIa 4 theme and Colorful tabs, and TabMixPlus (reduce tab width) for more screen real estate (http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6141/5924894528_20ab8f3345.jpg)

Again, i thank God for such with its variety, which is not like drap Communism

Some web browers allow you to right click and then view the HTML source code.

It’s best to snip some of the code but not all of it (banner ads, etc.).

But this will permit you to retain the embedded links of many (but not all) pages.

And I don’t see a problem with this. There are some who post a teaser paragraph to a page but years later when I try to follow the link to read the full article to cite something in a contemporary FR thread, there is no “there”. Dead links. Content is GONE.
