Etymology: 1757, from Fr. persiflage, from persifler "to banter," from L. per- "through" + Fr. siffler "to whistle, hiss," from collateral form of L. sibilare "to hiss," possibly of imitative origin.

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

i know : ) i have myriad Vegas stories to tell. Get this... i was in a cab coming back from shopping at a diff hotel and i always chat up the cabdrivers. Always start with how is the economy doing etc. I asked the guy if he was from LV, and he said, yeah, basically. Asked where i was from and i said well i live in Northern VA-DC suburbs but originally from PGH, he said no kidding, so am i! i said well i could have sworn i heard the accent, but didn’t say anything bc you had just said you were from Vegas. It was so wild! he said he was from the city, went to Wilkinsburg HS, i said oh i went to a FARM SCHOOL and he guess Kiski Area. I said hey, there were always BRAWLS when we played you guys in football, we were foothills champions when i was there. He couldn’t believe i remembered the division, i said, hey, we got a day off school the year we won. He graduated 1973, and i said i graduated 1974. He moved to Vegas in 1980. He said off all the cabs you could’ve gotten into, you got into mine. Said i made his day etc. Pittsburghers are the best! He did have lib politics though, he wouldn’t go down that road with me bc of course they are always angling for the tip.

another story... the show we went to see was called Gigantes3 Marc Anthony [JLos ex], chayanne, and Marco Antonio Solis[xshub said, i wonder if he's related to HILDA?? ROR!] It was great. Of course we were the only gringos in the joint. It was at the Mandalay Bay and basically looked like a slightly smaller verizon Center. PACKED, every seat taken. Gigantes=GIANTS, and those three are giants in the latin music biz. Boy do latinos put on a show. Started a half hour late, but Marc Anthony did a solid hour, as did Chayanee, and then after about 20 min of the Marco Antonio Solis guy it was 11 pm and we were dead [were up most mornings at 4am bc of the time diff]so we left before the finale which was the three of them singing together. The woman next to xshub was chatting him up, i LMAO. She asked him where are you from. Now maybe you would have answered the same way as xshub being a gringo, he said DC. She asked where I was from and he said, "We're married!" meaning she's from DC too. but if a latin asks you where you are from, they mean COUNTRY OF ORIGIN, not city you live in. So she was basically saying, ok, one of the two of you has to be hispanic if you are at this concert so which one of you is it?? LOL!various flags were being waved at the concert, mexico, venezuela etc. She was Venezuelan. she kept telling him various facts throughout, it was pretty funny. i let him deal with her! she actually lives in Salt Lake City, and traveled to LV for this concert, which was just HUGE for the latino population.

last story. now that i am at the PC it’s easier to type all of this out! when i was at the spa waiting for the facial on Thursday, i had gone over to the Bellagio to have it done. it is an enormous spa and was very busy. They always take you to like a “meditation” type room before your treatment for relaxation etc. Normally it is very quiet with falling water sound effects and aromatherapy. this room was jammed and i got the last available seat, which was next to the tv [VERY odd to have a tv in one of these] The Tv was on FOX NEWS! that was a shock in and of itself. so there was a group of 4 women near me chatting, i saw them looking at the tv etc. They came and called 3 of them for their treatment and the one next to me was left. she and i started talking, turns out she was from CO and conservative! i said i figured you guys must be conservatives bc i saw you LOOKING at Fox news. a lib would not have. She commented how she was astounded it was even on Fox news! She could have been a freeper, she was so knowledgeable and on point about everything, said CO is about 50-50%and she said she feels like we are obligated to talk to people to try to convince others, but that some people are just so UGLY about it, and i said, well only their side jumps ugly when you talk politics, and she agreed. So that was a nice experience.
