A dog, confined within his own yard, was shot and killed by an Eldorado, Ill. police officer who had mistakenly arrived to the wrong house to investigate a report of a stolen ladder.
According to Wednesday's publication of WSIL TV, the shooting took place on Sunday evening, when an officer arrived to the home of Jason Robershaw.
Robershaw claims that he heard a knock at his back door, followed by gun shots.
Those shots took the life of his 6-year-old German shepherd, "Smokey."

Bottom line is that the cops will do anything to protect one of their own.

I find it disturbing and disgusting. I have 4 dogs which act aggressive when a stranger comes in the house or our yard. I am sure they would be kill bait for a trigger happy policeman.
Every one of my dogs are gentle with no bite history. This scares me to no end.
Shoot a police dog? How about the tin stars and their pea brains leaving the police dogs to die inside the cop cars? Then the dead dogs are just written off as disposable taxpayer property.

I agree. Pre-1973, this couldn't happen in America. I read somewhere that, in WWII, half the soldiers IN COMBAT just fired over the enemies' heads. They couldn't bring themselves to kill a man. Now, we have these "officer safety" thug stories all over the country.

When I was in the military the training routine was if you flunked out they made you a cook or a cop.

When I was 17-18 I had a job delivering pizzas. Never went to the wrong address.
Later I had a job delivering flowers. Never went to the wrong address.
This was well before GPS. I had a map. That was it.
Recently our little community passed a new ordinance requiring bigger streeet numbers be affixed to the house, so emergency response could more easily find an address.
I have not seen anyone comply. I think it is just cover for incompetence. They can come back and say “we told you to put bigger numbers in front.”
Perhaps not... I am astute and patient enough to only strike when I have an opening, however long it might take to get a clear one. And I will only need one chance...

Your willing assistance to get the officers around Constitutional protections speaks of your own lack of regard for the document.

Look, thinking its better for innocent people to be shot by the police raiding the wrong house than for someone to provide them the correct address is SICK!

The police officers who go to the “wrong houses” are doing so because they expect they will receive no backlash for doing so.

I once had a nice long conversation at my front door with a cop who had the wrong address. He never suspected that the hand he couldn’t see had a .44 magnum in it.
