Sports Vanity: Can the New Orleans Saints be considered as the worst team in the NFL?

Posted on 09/24/2012 10:05:04 AM PDT by fourth and three

They are 0-3, and have lost all 3 games whose only victory came against them.

BTW, I say this as a life long saints fan.

The Bucs don’t stink.

They really stink, although they are slightly better than last year.

What, you weren’t around when they “matriculated the ball down the field” against the Vikes?

Yesterday’s game notwithstanding, I like what Schiano is doing there, toughening up the team, it will pay off down the road.

I’ll have to find my recording of,

“When the Aints come marching in... Oh how we love to be their opponents, when the Aints come marching in...”

Yeah he is improving things. I expect most of our home games to be blacked out though. They don’t even try to sell tickets. Heck they run out of ice during the games so they can’t even make money on concessions.

I think the Saints have the “us against the world” mentality, but it’s the difference between the college game and the pros. In college teams win on pure physical skill and will, the pros are about precision execution, playing mad impedes precision, those small mental mistakes get huge in the NFL. I think it’s also why so many players working through grief have such stellar games, they focus their mind on the game and gain precision.

No. Maybe in the NFC. But the Browns are the worst team in the NFL.

very true...the browns really suck. They have not won in the last 9 games I think. No WR’s who can get up in the air and catch a ball and actually be consistent. O line is horrid. Defense is offensive. The new owner has his work cut out if he is building this into a winner.

You make a good case - and can add to it the fact that among the teams that beat the Saint-beaters are the 1-2 Rams and 1-2 Bucs.

But I think that over the course of 16 games the Saints will establish themselves as no worse than mediocre. Time will tell.

“Well they were inspired against the Giants. And the Bucs stink. I’m trying to figure out how my Steelers keep finding ways to dominate every aspect of a game except the score board.”

As long as Rapistberger is the quarterrapist then every so-called “win” by the Steelers is illegitimate and should have an asterisk next to it because he should be doing 25-to-life.

Sorry to all of you. The Detroit Lions are the worst team in NFL history. They have not won a championship since 1957 and for some odd reason built a new stadium years ago called “Ford Field”. They are losers because the Ford family refuses to release the death hold grip they hold on them since ‘57.
Someday, if the Lions are sold to ANYBODY else they may have a 50-50 season. I have been a Lions fan since 1963 and I no longer remember why...

Nope. My dad tells me it was pretty cool, though. He also has a story about watching the last game at Municipal Stadium on Christmas Day at his grandmother’s house. Triple overtime against the Dolphins. As for me, I can remember our last playoff victory. Against a franchise that isn’t even there anymore.

No; the Cleveland Browns have a much stronger aroma on the field, than the Saints.

They have very talented skill positions and Romo is getting rid of the ball early. And the Giants were sleepwalking through that first game: it looked like they thought it was a preseason affair.

I think Freeman is pretty good...they need a secondary upgrade. Badly.

I haven’t been the biggest Romo fan in the past, but I think the Cowboys are 0-3 if it weren’t for Romo. I just hope he doesn’t wind up getting hurt the rest of the season, but if his OL doesn’t improve drastically, he won’t make it.

I’m trying to figure out how my Steelers keep finding ways to dominate every aspect of a game except the score board.

Without Mendenhall, the Steelers can't run effectively, and that's killed them in their two losses. Turnovers were huge yesterday, too.

They should get Mendenhall, Polamalu, and Harrison back after the bye, so hopefully they'll start rolling then.

I could handle the Denver loss just because Peyton has had our number for a while. But yesterday just killed me. It was mostly the turnovers, but that defense just isn’t crushing throats like they used to. A lot of it is age, the players don’t have energy, but I’ve also noticed the last few years Lebeau’s calls seem to get more conservative as the game wears on, which lets teams back in it too often.

Brown better spend the next two weeks carrying a football everywhere.

Agreed, although as a Giants fan I have been the one defending Romo over the years to my Cowboys fan friends. Ha!

If Belichick had been coaching the Cowboys over the last 6 years, they would have, IMO, at least 2 NFC Championships and one Super Bowl.
