James Wesley Rawles's new novel of the coming collapse, Founders, has hit #5 on the Amazon best sellers list. Today is the first day of release for this third book in Mr. Rawles's series of novels about a time in the near future when a monetary collapse precipitates a cascading societal collapse, and how various slightly overlapping groups deal with the subsequent challenges.
My copy shipped yesterday. He’s a damned good storyteller.
BTT for later reference.
SPOILERS AHEAD SO DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!
The missile guy sounds interesting, though.
Just purchased it. On my Kindle now!
I read “Patriots” awhile back, and lent it to a family member who never gave it back.
Which are the three books in this new trilogy? I’m feeling feisty today and will order all of them in one swoop. Thanks!
Patriots was okay for a prepper book in the form of a sort-of novel, but as a novel, Survivors was just unreadable dreck.
JW,R is a great guy and a top survival guru, so he will be able to drive his novels up by using his mega-popular blog, but he really can’t write fiction for beans.
The three books are “Patriots”, “Survivors” and the new one, “Founders”.
Many reviews of his last novel, which I found unreadable.
I did order "Founders", and hope it is more of the "Patriots" quality.
I have read most of the available novels in this genre, and highly recommend "Apocalypse Law" I&II, and "Feathers on the Wings of Love and Hate" I&II By John Grit, along with our very own Freeper's "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" trilogy, available here:
Nice, couldn't have said it better.
Hey have you read John Grit's stuff ?
There is also a new first work out that I really enjoyed in spite of a few typos and editing issues. It has balls, and in this case for me, balls was enough.
“Founders” as in the founders of a Second American Republic??
That sounds good.
Could be great if done right, lol. Now that I have read Travis McGee’s comments.
His motives and politics are fine. He just can’t write fiction. A very successful blog and great popularity for that blog can drive his numbers way, way up on “book bomb day,” but he still can’t write readable fiction.
I wish someone who could write could write the story of fighting a new revolutionary war and the putting together of a new Constitution as well.
I think you all are being a little tough on the boy.
Especially you, Travis.
If he is such a sh!t writer of fiction could you be so kind as to be more specific? As in maybe a review.
Don’t get me wrong...I especially enjoyed some of your latest material. I could hear the ropes creak.
But, please. Don’t become the likes of Bill Kristol.
Whoops.
Got caught drunk posting again.
That wasn’t you Travis.
The rest of you critical reprobates are just that.
I was sent a pre-pub copy of “Survivors” a year or two ago. Lots of reviews of “Survivors” are posted at #9. I agree with the one-stars. The five-stars, I assume, are his devoted followers. To each his own.
