They were doing that stupid passout game when I was in junior high school in 1966. A less dangerous fad then was to soak toothpicks in cinnamon or clove oil and then chew on them. Of course, there was always beer, liquor, pot, and LSD then as well.

BUT, I am old enough to clearly remember idiots tying towels around their necks and jumping off back porches and garages to emulate Superman and Mighty Mouse.. There was a beautiful child in our neighborhood that was heard saying Beep Beep before dashing across the street to beat a car.. nuf said
Used to do that back when I was 13, and that was 45 years ago.
I never ran in front of cars and we lived on a pretty quiet dead-end street.
No comment on the capes.
I recall back in about 1959 being shown by another boy how to make yourself pass out. I told my Dad about it and he said, “yes it can make you pass out but some people never wake up because there dead.” I never tried it again. tomany of todays kid do not have a Dad that they can talk to.
