This article is going to make many people angry. I don’t care because it needs to be said. Doctor Who has become fan wank. I am not slamming the performance of Matt Smith who I think is brilliant as the Doctor. I am slamming this current season’s writing staff and their inability to craft a believable Doctor Who story.
I hate to do this, but I am going to blame Steven Moffat and Neil Gaiman. Steven Moffat has crafted some of the most brilliant new Doctor Who villains in years. Both the “Silence”and the “Weeping Angels” are masterpieces of horror. Either of these creatures could be taken out of Doctor Who and stand alone as iconic monsters. I can imagine future generations of kids screaming when they see a statue or avoiding being alone for fear of a visit from the Silence. As for Neil Gaimen his episode last season entitled “The Doctor’s Wife” was beyond phenomenal. It embodied what Doctor Who fans had suspected about the TARDIS all along. You can’t ask for a better hour of Who.

SO far the season has been a little bit of a Yawn. Asylum of The Daleks was good only to introduce Oswind. The last three have been just ok. Looking forward to Saturday and Amy and Rory going bye-bye. I miss Rose Tyler....
Most of the episodes this season have been decent as stand alone episodes. The problem is that unlike last season where you had that huge hook of the doctor “dying” in the first fifteen minutes of the season opener and the rest of the season revolving around that, this season seems to be just a bunch of loosely connected stories without any central theme.

I wish he had a new companion.. but the stories are good.
I shall always have a soft spot for Donna Noble. She was the Doctor’s big sister and treated him as such. They were platonic, no fangirl crushes like Martha Jones.
I am late on board the Whovian Express, having just started to watch on Netflix. I am almost done with season 6 and have been completely blown away by the quality of some of the episodes. US television shows haven’t even come close to that quality, except a few early episodes of BSG.
I liked all the old episodes from 70’s & 80’s .
I wasn’t happy with the change to Matt Smith but thoroughly
enjoyed season 6. I only watched the first two of season 7,
rest are on my tivo. This season seems boring so far. I am
hoping it changes for the better.
I just watched the premiere of the neighbors and deleted the show halfway through. Not sure what the target audience is, 13 yr olds?
We got the Master and Rassilon back out of the original series. How about Omega?
Perhaps I have lost my edge, but I cried like a baby when they took Van Gogh through the modern art gallery and he could see what people thought of his work now. I saw some of Van Gogh’s paintings in Amsterdam and was struck at the difference between seeing them in person and in a book. I don’t know how people could have disliked his work, but such is life.
I hated Donna Noble and the Weeping Angels were surprisingly scary. There’s enough in the Doctor for everybody. It’s been around for a long time and is bound to have ups and downs. If you don’t like this week, come back next.
I watch TV and Movies to escape reality. Obsessing over the production, background, stars personal lives, and the personalities behind the scenes are to me ruinous of the experience. Particularly galling to me are the self appointed “critics” who always manage to mention the “writing”, as if they could do better. This article indeed made me angry, but not because I am a Dr Who fan boy, I have never watched it since it was on PBS at midnight 30 years ago. It made me angry because these people are the spoilsports of the world and I hate to hear the endless complaining and analysis. Just shut up and watch the show and try to enjoy it, or else watch something else.
The Van Gogh episode may be my favorite episode so far, with the Angels’ episodes close behind. Hated Donna, loved Doctor Donna!!!
That was an amazing episode. It took me a couple of episodes to warm up to Amy Pond. I’ve missed each of the companions. Rose, Donna and Martha each had their strengths.
I loved the Van Gogh episode. It has to be my favorite Matt Smith episode so far. I also loved the fact that Bill Nighy was the museum expert. (love the cameos by the Brit actors)
My favorite David Tennant episode was Blink, even though he was hardly in the show. It was so different and unique.
I HATE the Weeping Angels! They creep me out just thinking about them!
Can these past episodes be seen online? I missed “The Silence” but it sounds great
All of the previous seasons of Doctor Who from 2005 onward are available for streaming on Netflix.
I just recently re-watched the Van Gogh episode. Yeah, I'm a sucker. I teared up pretty good too.
