Meat that comes from the belly of the animal that is eaten is called bacon. It’s still a staple in major areas of Japan. It’s sliced very thin and goes for about $5.

Or, to ask a more interesting question, why is Japan so uniquely weird? What is up with the weirdness? Did this tendency exist in pre-war Japanese culture? First it was Godzilla and then it kind of snowballed from there. But why? Why does Japan have gameshows where contestants are kicked in the groin by robots?
No doubt someone has researched this subject in depth.

The source of their weirdness is quite obvious. They were alien vacationers who arrived around 40,000 BC who after chasing down a whale and found it delicious decided to stay.

When I was in South Korea in the 70’s, the goal was to get their (women) eyes cut to look like Americans (also referred to as round eyes). We do this in dehydrated pets (except place the fluid bolus
between the shoulder blades). This is in place of hospitilizing a pet with IV fluids when they aren’t in serious condition, but still need a fluid boost. Pets have loose skin, and the fluid is absorbed overnight.
On rare ocassions, there can be an infection from the fluids, and all the skin (over the fluid area) has been known to slough off. Hope this doesn’t scar up anyone’s face.
