In honor of the memory of Herbert Lom, this opening clip from "El Cid" where his 11th century Islamonazi villain chants how "Islam will conquer the world."
Lom was a treasure!
He was one of the stars of the classic British film “The Ladykillers,” and played Inspector Dryfuss in the hilarious Pink Panther series.
He was 95!
On a less serious note, here’s a video of Herbert Lom as Clouseau’s Chief.

I know this is about Lom, but as far as the Muslim aspect, the video is pretty scary, I don’t see this doesn’t mirror what’s happening today. And H Clinton says a day after our Ambassador et al are killed that Islam is “a great religion” and a “religion of peace.” Right.
Back in 1985, my buddy and I were working on TDY at the U.S. Embassy in Salisbury (Harare), Rhodesia ( Zimbabwe). We decided to take a long weekend trip to Wankie (Whange) for a photo safari. Herbert Lom was sitting in the row in front of us on the Air Zimbabwe plane. He was singularly unimpressed by our presence. Later that month said buddy and I were invited to participate as judges in a chili cook off at the Marine House. One of the other judges was Richard Chamberlain, who was there making “King Solomon’s Mines.” He was a nice enough guy but we were more interested in his co-star, Sharon Stone. Herbert Lom declined the invitation.
I just rented El Cid recently I do not remember that part of the movie and I would have remembered that!
Did this Czech check out?!
Sharon Stone was hot in those days and lonely, as Chamberlain was more interested in Lom than in her. I hope you took the advantage of the situation. (Though that was long before the invention of Gaydar.)
She was indeed. The Marines who who hosted the cook-off were obviously more interested in the lady, but even though Chamberlain’s proclivities were well known, he was recived rather well by all. I thought he was a pretty good guy.
