BU hopes to get donation from former student Psy, the South Korean rapper known for 'Gangnam Style' hit

Boston University plans to seek a donation from former student and South Korean rap sensation Psy for the school’s recently launched $1 billion fund-raising campaign.
This summer, 34-year-old Park Jae-sang, known to most as Psy, released the single “Gangnam Style.” The song and accompanying music video have gained rapid global popularity.
In the summer of 1996, Psy enrolled in an English language program designed for international students at BU, according to campus spokesman Colin Riley. The following spring, Psy attended the BU for a semester of undergraduate studies and is believed to have lived in university housing.
After that, he continued his studies in Boston, moving to the Berklee College of Music, which he attended for about a year and a half.

Well, if Psy has a Korean talent agency managing him, he should be a thousandaire by now.
I will be delighted only if he refuses to give even one dime.
That stuff keeps popping up on various media.
The only thing I can say about the appeal is it proves that “mindless herd mentality” is alive and kicking in America!
I mean I drank alcohol for probably 30 years and never heard of Jagermeister.

I also get the feeling that this one is more popular overseas. Pretty boy/gal bands are strong in SK, although they are viewed as very lame in many foreign countries.

It is a group party dance music. For serious music, I will go over Mozart’s chamber music.
I clicked on that video. I can now state that rap has officially, finally jumped the shark.
Psy’s “Gangnam Style” video now has 342 MILLION views, the most in YouTube history. Even so, I doubt he has made much money from this. He has now signed with Justin Bieber’s agent in the US, so I presume he got a healthy signing bonus plus more to come from recordings and perfomrmances. I read where his video/tune is #1 in 31 countries (perhaps more by now).
Many years ago, I was a fund raiser for a small woman’s
college. Putting together a prospect list, making initial and follow-on contact and cultivating a donor, especially for major gifts, generally was a long process. Trying to solicit monies from a former student who didn’t stay long obviously lowered the probability of securing a donation. If a prospective donor has never heard from the development or fund raising arm of a school since attending, the chance of getting a donation drops to near zero. In Psy’s case, it might be good PR to make a nominal gift.

Well, the issue is that South Korean talent agencies stiff their artists like crazy. So much Korean talent has relocated to Japan because the artists got peanuts for working a endless schedule.
Berklee is a good school, I know several very talented musicians who went there. It tells me this guy is clever like a fox.
IMHO you didn't miss anything. Jagermeister is nasty stuff (unless you really like black licorice). Friends mix it with Berenjager (sp?), a honey liqueur -- OMG, I'd rather drink liquid soap.
