Exclusive: Rolling Stones Concert Tix Will Go on Sale This Weekend

Exclusive: The Rolling Stones will indeed play 50th anniversary concerts. And I am told they will go on sale this weekend–maybe as soon as Friday. Ticketmaster will handle the sales. All hell is going to break loose, too. What I’m told: confirmed dates are November 26 and 27 at the O2 Arena in London. December 15th and 16th are set for the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The dates for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn are coming, but not agreed to yet. This column was first to break the Prudential Center news two weeks ago. We were also first to tell you about Barclays and O2. So what’s been the delay? Money, money, money. The Stones want it. Richard Branson is putting up $25 million to make all this happen with concert promoter Paul Dainty. Once all the London-New York shows are sold, look for more dates. You know that Los Angeles and a few other big cities are guaranteed in 2013.

I’ve never seen a 2-sided mp3.

Why do they call Big Bopper a one-hit wonder when it was the B-side of his single that became the hit?

Shouldn’t that be a half-hit wonder?

Your picture is incomplete. Where are the elephants? Where’s the giant turtle?

Evidently, Neil Young’s improvement on MP3 called PONO (trademark application pending) will have B-sides.

I’ve told this story here before; I saw Keef in about ‘80 when he, Ron Wood, Stanley Clarke, and some others did a few shows as the New Barbarians in between Stones gigs.

We got right up on the wall in the days of “festival seating”, and Keith was maybe 10’-15’ from me for basically the whole show.

Let me tell you right now, the guy looked like Death. Warmed. Over. back then.

So “science will study the body in depth. Certainly a wonder of longevity” makes a lot of sense to me. If you’d have asked me that night if Keith would make 2012, I’d have laughed in your face.

“Stones or Beatles? PING!

The Who. “

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

Eh, think I’ll just choose to remember them as I saw them in St. Louis in ‘81.

Mick and the boys were just larger than life ...

The Rolling Stones used to sing for social change, now they sing for Budweiser.

I also heard that they were the biggest group that people had a chance of seeing in a small venue. Mick and Keith preferred them. They were known to do surprise shows in places like bars in Myrtle Beach back in the 70s and 80s.

Thank you, Mod, for fixing the title of this piece. I was lazy for not correcting the ALL-CAPS title, while I knew better!
