Immigration "They start companies like Intel and Google
NPR Transcript ^ | 10/16/2012 | NPR

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I do want to make sure that we just understand something. Governor Romney says he wasn't referring to Arizona as a model for the nation. His top adviser on immigration is the guy who designed the Arizona law, the entirety of it — not E-Verify, the whole thing. That's his policy, and it's a bad policy. And it won't help us grow. Look, when we think about immigration, we have to understand there are folks all around the world who still see America as the land of promise. And they provide us energy, and they provide us innovation. And they start companies like Intel and Google, and we want to encourage that.

Only one of 5 founders of Google and Intel was an immigrant. That being: Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin (Russian: Сергей Михайлович Брин; born August 21, 1973) is a Soviet-born American computer scientist.

So how many break through major power innovations have come out of Mexico? I’d enjoy hearing the answer to this. Have they turned water into gasoline when we weren’t looking? How is that space program of theirs South of the border?

Illegal immigrants do not typically start US companies.

BTW I have to say Romney gave a far, far better debate answer to the question concerning how to deal with the problem of illegal immigration than did George Bush twelve years ago.

A FAR better, more conservative answer.

Andrew Stephen (”Andy”) Grove (born 2 September 1936), is a Hungarian-born American businessman, engineer, and author. He is a science pioneer in the semiconductor industry. He escaped from Communist-controlled Hungary at the age of 20 and moved to the United States where he finished his education. He later became CEO of Intel Corporation and helped transform the company into the world’s largest manufacturer of semiconductors.

He came here legally when he was six years old and both of his parents were already college graduates in the Soviet Union. He wasn't someone who sneaked across the border to mow lawns cheaply and tax free.

Not when they come here not even understanding how to use a flush toilet. Not when they come here and violate our laws in their first actions by trespassing.

Thanks to the vermin Ted Kennedy, our immigration policy is geared to EXCLUDE those from the countries where the REAL builders and innovators used to come from and give preference to 3rd world cesspools.

You cannot make your garden grow by importing mostly parasitic weeds. You must bring in more viable contributing plants otherwise the parasitic weeds will take over and kill the entire garden and IMO that is exactly where we are right now. The parasites are winning.

Just in case anyone thinks I am anti-Mexican, no I am not as for the most part they are among the hardest working people I know. Just learn our language and obey our borders. Not too much to ask is it?

Yeah, I heard that.

He also showed he was an assclown when he talked about how he wanted to help create companies like “Apple”....I shouted out to the tv “Apple wasn’t created by bureacrats, you idiot! It was created by a couple of guys in a garage!”

He really, truly, has no clue when it comes to job creation, creativity, entrepreneurship and capitalism.

Robert Noyce was born on December 12, 1927, in Burlington, Iowa

Gordon Moore was born in San Francisco, California

Andy Grove was born András István Gróf, to a middle-class Jewish family in Budapest, Hungary. Growing up, he was known to friends as “Andris”. At the age of four he contracted scarlet fever, which was nearly fatal and caused partial hearing loss.[2] When he was eight, the Nazis occupied Hungary and deported nearly 500,000 Jews to concentration camps. He and his mother took on false identities and were sheltered by friends.[2] His father was taken to an Eastern Labor Camp to do forced labor, but was reunited with his family after the war. During the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, when he was 20, he left his home and family and escaped across the border into Austria, where he eventually made his way to the United States in 1957. There, he changed his name to Andrew S. Grove.[1] To this day, he speaks English with a Hungarian accent.[

Grove
“By the time I was twenty, I had lived through a Hungarian Fascist dictatorship, German military occupation, the Nazis’ “Final Solution,” the siege of Budapest by the Soviet Red Army, a period of chaotic democracy in the years immediately after the war, a variety of repressive Communist regimes, and a popular uprising that was put down at gunpoint. . . [where] many young people were killed; countless others were interned. Some two hundred thousand Hungarians escaped to the West. I was one of them.”

If USA falls where will the next Andy Grove flee too ?

57% of immigrant headed households with children are on welfare.

We are importing poverty thru our legal immigration policies, which bring in 1.2 million legal immigrants a year.

It will fall (and IMO it is falling right before our eyes) if we do not have the right to control our borders. Without borders we are simply a large patch of land.

Anyone who follows the legal process and can show they will not be a long term drain on our society, and hopefully a contributing member, should be welcome.

I see no reason a “Andy Grove” should not be very welcome in this country if he followed our immigration laws. (in all honesty, I could not tell from your post if he did follow the law. If he did GREAT, welcome)

I have no compassion for anyone who sneaks in. If someone does not respect our borders and our laws then NO THANKS.

Illegal immigrants do not typically start US companies.

Nor do LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. We bring in annually twice as many legal immigrants as illegal immigrants and most of them are poor and uneducated,

In short, immigrants from Canada, UK, India, Russia and Phillipines makes it into middle class most of the time. They are taxpayers. Others aren’t that good. Mexicans and other Central American people are worst following statistics moving here for welfare most of the time.
