Yesterday, we welcomed 231 energetic members into the first ever FEMA Corps class. The members just finished off their first month of training with our partners at the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and are one step closer to working in the field on disaster response and recovery. They will now head to FEMAs Center for Domestic Preparedness to spend the next two weeks training in their FEMA position-specific roles. Once they complete both the CNCS and FEMA training, these 231 dedicated FEMA Corps members will be qualified to work in one of a variety of disaster related roles, ranging from Community Relations to Disaster Recovery Center support.
FEMA Corps builds on the great work of AmeriCorps to establish a service cadre dedicated to disaster response and recover. To be sure, responding to disasters is nothing new for Americorps. In fact, the great work that AmeriCorps already does during disasters was the inspiration for FEMA Corps.
When I visited communities all over the country that were devastated by disasters, from Joplin, MO to Bastrop, Texas, I always encountered the incredible members of AmeriCorps lending a helping hand to survivors. I was continually struck by the level of compassion, dedication, and skill these members brought to the table.

The FEMA regional headquarters is so close to me that they could send someone over on foot or a bicycle to come get me, or maybe a FEMA Corps kid with a little red wagon.
Be afraid, be very afraid.
I guess what FEMA is saying is that the new 250,000 DHS employees, the local guys getting billions in taxpayer dollars, the TSA, and all the other agencies just can’t hack it without a bunch of dumb kids to join in the fray. What was lacking at Katrina and other siutations was 18-24 FEMA works, right, FEMA?
Department of Homeland security, with it’s nazi sounding name, has about the number of personnel as the USMC, and it has twice the budget of the USMC.
It is aimed inwardly. A police/security state is being constructed around us. Their “mission” is supposed to be to protect us from terrorism. Yet, they arm the cartels, they strike side deals with sinaloa. They target Ron Paul voters, people who advocate following the constitution, veterans, and TEA supporters. They are vicious in their condemnation of anyting that casts moslems in a bad light.
They are after us,,not the “terrorists”.
Their parents must be SO PROUD.....
I think they are being trained to be the first generation of “green police”.
They will prolly all be issued a .40 cal and 5,000 rounds of plus P plus ammo. Just for target practice though.
Cannon fodder for the first wave, expendables.
