In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

fulgurant \FUHL-gyer-uhnt\, adjective
Flashing like lightning.

Example sentences:
Now, as died the fulgurant rage that had supported her, and her normal strength being exhausted, a sudden weakness intervened, and she couldn't but allow Mike to lead her to a seat.
-- George Moore, Mike Fletcher: A Novel

He failed: the storm ran closer, fulgurant brilliance striding the sorry landscape like the stilted legs of some vast insect, the wind strengthening, carrying the odor of corruption, the thunder growling as if in anticipation.
-- Angus Wells, Wild Magic

Etymology:
Fulgurant is derived from the Latin word fulgurāre which meant "to flash like lightning."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Mary says that ALL of her signatures are there. I’m going to have to ask her to explain. She also says that you have an interesting “point” system for registering. Different tyyypes of ID have different point values, and you have to have a total of 10 (?) points, or your registration is rejected.

I don’t know whether to be mad, or glad, about my grandson who did NOT REGISTER to vote! He worked a night job all summer so was not available to register during the day. He’s back at school and says that nobody he knows is very interested in this election (one of the SUNY campi). If they are not interested, then I don’t want them voting. But, it’s like a dagger in my heart that my oldest grandchild is not registered.

I emailed him an application last Thursday, but he was off with his friends on “Fall Break” visiting in Ohio. Who ever heard of “Fall Break”? Of course he did not take his computer with him on break.

The gravity of his situation came to him in a sudden fulgurant picture that weighted heavily upon his mind that he, Barackward, was so very close to becoming the first American Lenin but now he was standing here, expelled from the White home he possessed for four years, and watching his life came to an end at the swearing in of Mitt Romney, the 45th President of the United States.

Under the bright lights of the cameras JoeyB's fulgurant teeth took on a live of their own. His maniacal laughter highlighted his perfect chicklet smile. Not a crooked tooth in those dentures. Not a hint of yellow to show his age. Just bright glaring white fake teeth that reportedly cost him $20grand.

Registration deadline for the presidential election this year was October 17th. He won’t be voting this year.

I will have to check to see how many signatures are there. Book would be awfully big to hold all mine, I have voted in every election since I turned 18.

Who ever heard of “Fall Break”?

Down here in the South, Y'all get a Fall break when your College/University doesn't start until after Labor Day.....

Y'all also get a Winter break if your School is finished before Memorial Day.

Which SUNY campus? Suny Binghamton is just down the road form me. NY is big on fall breaks up here. All our schools seem to take them. Usually, just a long weekend.

I know. I sent him the form on the 11th. I thought the deadline was the 12th, but he’d already left for Cleveland (which isn’t that far, but it sounds far away).

He probably couldn’t have gathered all his ID anyway. He’s a typical unfocused college sophomore. His mom had a hard time registering when the moved to NY because my son in law went ahead of time and purchased the house, opened the bank accounts, set up all the utilities, etc. She had NOTHING in her name and had to scramble to come up with sufficient documentation. I think a library card put her over the top.

LOL....that must NOT have been fun. I am glad she finally got registered. Where did they settle? Near Fredonia? My niece and her husband graduated from there.
