Police: We don’t expect Nov. 6 riots

Police departments around the nation are not anticipating civil unrest on Election Day despite arguments between liberals and conservatives over whether President Obama’s defeat could spark riots.

In 2008, police departments in Oakland, Chicago, Detroit and Philadelphia revealed they were taking special precautions in case public reaction to the election spiraled out of control.

Like an NBA Championship. Turn down the sound on your TV and try to tell if the pictures you’re seeing are from the losing city or the winning..... not much difference.

Even the biggest riots are pretty contained affairs. Even the biggest riots in American history have been contained to relatively small areas of cities.

I think there are more likely to be riots if he wins than if he loses. The thugs will feel that they’re in charge then.

I suspect many blacks would actually be secretly relieved if Obama lost, because he hasn’t been good for them but they have felt they have to support him because he’s of African descent. I was going to say black, meaning black American, but he’s certainly not that!

So when the riots do occur will they be completely unexpected?

I think the Koreans of LA are an excellent example of the rest of the US.

Living adjacent to a predominantly poor black area, and doing a lot of business with black people on a regular basis, on the first day they were not expecting to be racially attacked by people they considered their neighbors.

Fool me once, shame on you. To the Koreans’ credit, by the second day the Korean neighborhood was secure. Any rioter/looter who entered their neighborhood would have been a dead rioter/looter.

Most Americans are content to let rioters burn and loot their own neighborhoods. However, there are no longer many people, or police departments for that matter, who will allow racist rioters/looters to create havoc elsewhere.

And while the police have an inclination to arrest those who engage in wanton riot, arson, looting and assault, the rest of the public have no such restrictions on their actions, and when they observe a felony crime taking place, may legitimately open fire on the criminals.

I’m sure Homeland Security doesn’t expect any riots to happen either (as they order 1.4 billion rounds of ammo).
