Where Is Chris Christie?

Where is Chris Christie?

From the vantage point of my information universe, it's as if (to me) Christie gave his speech at the convention, and since that time I get a sense that he is NOT in any other way, particularly NOT in his own state, working very hard to help Romney, at least not very publicly.

I gather the national media enjoys making a GOP darling out of him, but, knowing he has to run for governor again in his own Dim-dominated state, he won't go out of his way to help Romney at the expense of some of the Democrat voters he will need next time??

Or, I am just uninformed?

NJ won’t ever go for Romney but there are definitely pockets of resistance like in Hunterdon County where I live.

Ocean County seems to be one of those as well.

Too much democratic strength in Newark, Trenton and Camden. Without those three basket-case cities we’d be flush with money and conservative politically.

Too bad Cory Booker and Bruce Springsteen refuse to remove their blinders.

Yes, I heard; but I know also that Virginia is NOT in New Jersey, and I cannot think of a single vote-Romney public event that Chris Christie has held IN HIS OWN STATE!!!

Additionally, until just recently, he had done nothing much publicly to get behind the NJ GOP candidate for Senator.

So, he continues to plan and receive plenty of out-of-state attention to himself, in this national election cycle, but is not prominent IN THIS STATE with regard to the national ticket.

He seems to be playing politics with his own party; wanting praise from the Washington D.C. GOP establishment, but trying his best not to offend his state’s Democrats by bringing much of his support for Romney to his own state.

Big deal - Ohio is not New Jersey;

I still say he ia afraid of annoying his own state’s Dim majority too much, and campaigning out of state for others is self-serving (and gets almost zero press and zero local press) and meant to just wrack up political debts he can cash in for himself when he gets tired of little ole New Jersey.

We are on the verge of picking up a senate seat here in Virginia, so his help is appreciated.

I still say he ia afraid of annoying his own state’s Dim majority too much, and campaigning out of state for congressional candidates is self-serving (and gets almost zero press and zero local press) and meant to just wrack up political debts he can cash in for himself when he gets tired of little ole New Jersey.

Keeping a low profile IN STATE regarding their own national ticket directly serves the Liberal dominant and Dim dominant political culture in their own state, a fact that is reflected in the congressional political imbalance - in favor of the Dims - that continues whether our governors in New York/NewJersey/Connecticut are GOP governors or not.

Like Pataki, Christine Todd Whitman and other Northeast GOP governors, it is always about them, personally, and they never did, and never will build-up their own party in their own state. Christie only just in the 11th hour here has done anything much for our own state GOP candidate for U.S. senator. What’s he been afraid of all these weeks? Maybe he’s been afraid of angering the NJ “Latino” vote by forcefully going after their blessed saint Senator Menendez.

I would be highly surprised if he didn't get a position in the Romney administration. He is working in swing states where he can do the most good for the cause.

He may want to be Attorney General, or have a cabinate level post in the Administration as a stepping stone to the POTUS run he is expected to make in 2020 with Ryan, Rubio and a slew of other Republican up and comers.

AEXACTLY! New Jersey is completely unimportant for Romney. If he wins NJ he already won must win Ohio as well as PA, MI, WI, CO, and probably 40 or more states for a historic blow out.

The important thing is a win, a blow out is not necessary, but would be great!

yea, I get it, like I said in a different manner in another reply in this thread

GOP governors in Liberal northeast states have political lives that are always 100% about their own political career and none ever have or ever will build-up the GOP ranks in their own state; Christie is no different

he is campaigning out of state because it’s useful to his own political ambitions, period

Ohio is as far as I can see already going to Romney

New Jersey is not

and if there was the slightest chance that New Jersey could (with help from ???) there would be some coat tails for some NJ GOP congressional candidates as well

If Christie cared about his own state as much as he cares about himself, he would be barnstorming up and down his own state for Romney, not Ohio, Virginia and Indiana.

Like all GOP Northeast governors in my adult experience, they never have and never will build up the GOP in their own state - they have conceded and will continue to concede our U.S. congressional delegations to the Democrats.

Wow. First time I ever got a form letter as a reply from a FReeper. And you managed to be a jerk about it too. Why bother to give our opinions to someone who has already decided what their response is going to be? Maybe you should move to another state and you wouldn't get agita about things that aren't even true.

I understand your desire for more NJ republicans in the House. But the Dems have had fifty years to gerrymander the Repubs into heavy dem areas and it is baked in the cake that they will take those seats.

“Too bad Cory Booker and Bruce Springsteen refuse to remove their blinders”

Springsteen is an out and out Communist. If he removed his blinders he would vote for the Socialist Workers candidate. Cory Booker’s blinders are hidden in the closet at this moment.

“Maybe you should move to another state and you wouldn’t get agita about things that aren’t even true.”

so, you think the truth is not that Christie is more concerned about his own political prospects than he is about his own state?

who is it that does not know what they’re talking about?

“But the Dems have had fifty years to gerrymander the Repubs into heavy dem areas”

that’s the same thing as saying people that reside in certain areas are born Democrat or born GOP and not only do they never change but the demographics of their area never changes either

that’s an excuse for a lackadaisical GOP state organization and that’s all it is

we are not on the verge of ousting a die hard uber liberal senator here, and his absence on that score has been noticeable (until finally, but minimally here in the 11th hour); and what’s wrong with Virginia’s GOP; they can’t sell their own candidates well enough?; trust me, the Conservatism that Christie is selling in Virginia is more than the Conservatism he governs by here in New Jersey, but I undertand that that Conservtive image is the job the Liberal media has succeeded in painting him as, and for his own political advantage, more than actual conservative policies, he was worn it well
