Marking Lynyrd Skynyrd's tragic anniversary (35th Anniversary )
Daily Time (Delaware County PA) ^ | 10/02/2012 | MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER

This Saturday marks the anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in rock and roll; it’s been 35 years since the plane carrying Lynyrd Skynyrd on its 1977 ill-named “Tour of the Survivors” went down in the Louisiana swamps, taking the lives of singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and his sister, backup singer Cassie.

To this day, the fault of the crash is still unknown, wrapped in rumor and conjecture. Whether it was pilot error or plane malfunction, the undisputable fact remains that one of the most talented bands to come out of the United States was snuffed out when it was entering its prime.

Some things are etched in our memory, and I can understand why that would be. Imagine your friend on that memory.

You and I share the same music tastes. I love Marshal Tucker Band. “Can’t you see” is one of my all time favorites. Of course, being from Bama, “Sweet Home Alabama” is a solid #1 with me over the years.

Since Sybeck apparently intends to spend his afterlife in her living room, “That Smell” would be more apropos.

My survivors will be the ones who put me in that coffin.

My last wish would be to make them suffer my music.

;D

I had just got a Job at one of the largest and famous Banquet Halls in the NE as a waiter. Good money, hard work, and an emaculate kitchen, not to mention incredible Demonico Steaks and Prime Rib....

The Busy season was picking up, pre-Christmas and Weddings. It was a Sad day, all the kitchen guys were blue-collar football types listening to "WCCC" on 1st gen boom boxes if you will, we were all bumbing, they were all pretty lively but man they all were quiet...

>> Harvey In the Morning? I grew up in Newtown Square, MN High class of 77. Just the mention of MMR took me back to my youth, listening to Ed Sciaky, Michael Tearson, <<<

That is the sound track of my life. Do you remember, The Electric Factory, Mann Music Center, Harvey - Best of Progessive Rock, Tower Theater, The Main Point ???

We still go to the Mann and the Tower often.
Saw the Shins at the Tower recently, and Robert Plant/Alison Kraus at the Mann a couple years ago. The Electric factory is still going, but I haven’t heard much about the Main Point in a long time.
