The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco”.

San Fran weather in early November doesn't even come close to Michigan's.....When do the ski slopes open in San Fran?

I've wandered around Ft. Dodge, IA in five below weather for an hour, wearing little more than a dress shirt and slacks. No problem. Try that on San Francisco Bay at 40 degrees and you'd need treatment for hypothermia. The humidity, wind, and salt combine to render clothing effectively ineffective. I lived in a boat on that bay for nine years and froze my butt off every winter no matter what I wore.
