Freeper input needed for Poetry assignment LIT 2000.

Eyes wide with fear as I anxiously wait

the details running through my mind each day,

time is fleeting; I pray I am not late,

for any mistake, I will have to pay.

But what of this insatiable beast

that takes from some, punished for their hard work.

It gorges on itself, a bloating feast,

while ruling from on high with cynics smirk.

Punishment is the price of labors pain,

while some will gladly live, no payment due.

You cannot fight this, trying is insane,

prepare, for it will always come for you.

So add it up, and accept what is true,

On April fifteenth your taxes are due.

Alternate end:

So add it all up, and pay your fair share,

On April fifteenth, the taxman is there.

Or:

So add it all up, and pay your full sum

On April fifteenth the taxman will come.

KEYWORDS:
In my Lit class I have to create a Sonnet. I chose the Shakespearean model since it had to be in iambic pentameter and that is the easiest rhyming convention that I could work with. The Sonnet is 10 syllables per line. The Sonnet must be in the correct form and make a clear point.

How did I do? I offer three different ending couplets, which one sounds best. Any help is appreciated.

Thank You.

Cute. Not great, but passable.

I LOVE it. It’s great. I think I prefer your original ending, although all are good. Good work.

I dislike poetry, especially Haiku and rap.
