In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

velleity \vuh-LEE-i-tee\ , noun
1. Volition in its weakest form.
2. A mere wish, unaccompanied by an effort to obtain it.

Example sentences:
Fortunately it did no more than stress, the better to mock if you like, an innate velleity.
-- Samuel Beckett, Molloy

My guess is that instead of being men of decision we are in reality men of velleity.
-- Thomas Merton, Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander

Have you come across the word velleity? A nice Thomistic ring to it. Volition at its lowest ebb. A small thing, a wish, a tendency. If you're low-willed, you see, you end up living in the shallowest turns and bends of your own preoccupations.
-- Don DeLillo, Underworld

Etymology:
Velleity stems from the Latin word velle which meant "to be willing." The suffix -ity is used for abstract nouns.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

If you want to know what liberals are up to, see what they accuse others of.

Isn't that always the way it is with the Comrades at the Politbureau of the Democratic party? Lenin would be proud......So is Alinsky......

Oh, absolutely. I’d go rain or shine, so this is going to be beautiful. My wife is picking up some Italian roast beef from the butcher shop in town for sandwiches for dinner tonight.

Unconscionable is right. A+ for you. You need to post that as a thread of its own to get more attention. Seriously.

Already posted, and I’ve pinged it to the Wisconsin list TWICE. Little response so far.

I thought intimidation at an election was a Federal offense. But, I guess that’s just for Presidential elections. It’s no wonder that Racine is the ONLY district in Wisconsin where the recall succeeded. (A Senator was recalled, but there were a lot of questions about the vote.)

Thanks. There were a lot of personal endearments being tossed around yesterday. Monday’s teacher started it. Probably still in love with the whole world after vacationing in Italy. :)

It's Soothy's interpretation, I just let it slide off the plate.....instead of correcting it.....

Sorry......
