Just a thought..I'm obviously a Nervous Nellie! I was watching Fox and Friends this morning, and they were all over the fact that Hurricane Sandy may cause voting problems in the upcoming election. Does anyone here think that the Liar In Chief might use the storm as an excuse to postpone/cancel the election? I put NOTHING past this administration!
No. You don't appear to understand what an Executive Order is.
Even if he could then what? Are you saying you're afraid that he'll remain in office for life? Is your paranoia really running that deep?
(Note the eeeeevil old white guy standing there, just itching to unleash hurricane fury on minorities and women!)
Unprecedented. Just like his rise and tenure in the White House.
NO, I’m saying if he saw an opportunity to use this storm to delay the election (if internal polls and information showed that he would benefit in some way from a delay in the elction), then he would definitely find a way to do that.
No, I’m not saying that he could sign an EO to remain POTUS for life.
Isn’t the storm supposed to hit the Mid-Atlantic states a week before election day? I’m at a loss to figure out how this will affect the election in mass.
In the “war” of 1812 a storm that hit DC helped save the Republic.
Maybe an another sign....?
The Constitution does not grant to the President to power to cancel or postpone elections.
“Michelle Obama Makes Case For Early Voting: What If Your Toilet Overflows On Election Day?”
I’d take my morning Obama outside, or wait until I got to the polling center.
That way I could Obama twice at the same location!
No
If either candidate gets the 270 EC votes needed outside of the impacted area then it matters not regarding the Presidential race. Now the other state and local races are a different matter.
Every election dems worry about their turn out if the weather is really bad, my Mom used to call them “fair weather voters’.
Her thought was unless it is easy and the sun is shinning dems do not vote.
It doesn’t grant him the power to change Bankruptcy Laws, either....................

Meteorologists are saying that the effects of the storm could last for days..it’s the “perfect storm” situation that they think is going to happen.
Time of appointing electors
§ 1. The electors of President and Vice President shall be appointed, in each State, on the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November, in every fourth year succeeding every election of a President and Vice President.
Failure to make choice on prescribed day
§ 2. Whenever any State has held an election for the purpose of choosing electors, and has failed to make a choice on the day prescribed by law, the electors may be appointed on a subsequent day in such a manner as the legislature of such State may direct.
No.
Article II of the Constitution:
“The Congress may determine the Time of choosing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.”
IOW...Congress has chosen November 6. And the entire United States shall vote on the same day.
15th,19th, 24th and 26th Ammendments provide for voting rights regarding color, sex, poll taxes and 18 years olds. But NOT weather.
Here’s hoping Sandy turns right and heads for Europe. I’m flying into DC on Monday.
President doesn’t have that authority
FReepers..this is why I LOVE you guys! I always feel so much better when I hear from all of you!
As long as the electricity is back up and running, there is little that they could do to postpone the election. The Democrats aren’t concerned when military ballots don’t arrive in time, so how could a little delay in local early voting stop the election? You’re right, won’t happen.
