To see the storm projections WHILE THEY ARE in motion take a radical left/west turn, Please go to: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/2012/graphics/al18/loop_5NLW.shtml
Dang, that's a whole buncha trees ! :^)
It’s that strong slow moving storm blowing from west to east that will cause the hurricane to turn west. As we all know, a strong storm coming from west to east is required to totally give way to one going north, northwest.
“Does anyone have any concrete reasons why this storm should make a left hand turn?”
...the exact same reasons NOAA/NWS predicted a tropical storm turning to a hurricane and taking a right-hand turn into Tampa, precisely as the Republican Convention was going on. Just how well did that prediction match reality?
LOL. Katrina was a Huge, very large, storm , 41 foot storm surge, 175 mph winds. even with the fake hype this Sandy is nothing compared to Katrina. Katrina had the highest storm surge recorded in the U.S.

"Fully 90 miles of coast from eastern Louisiana to Alabama received a storm surge characteristic of a Category 3 hurricane." you have absoloutely no clue what Katrina was if any this was a huge storm , but not this sandy which will be nothing
NOAA , obama’s government agency is reporting a wind speed of 75 for sandy . sure just so they can call it a hurricane! this would be funny if it weren't so sad how they are pulling the strings of all the puppets and the sheep believe all these lies even on here.
The winds aren't 75 as NOAA says but lower. and will get even lower with the cold water. but the media and gov say it is the storm of the century. LOL ridiculous you try to downplay katrina , i was here , but build this crap up. Obama and the media just want to get bengazi off of the news and you buy it . ridiculous. see you here after the election so i can ridicule your posts.

I agree with your post.
It will basically pinwheel around a rapidly developing nor'easter that will draw Sandy to the west but then quickly merge with Sandy around where Sandy hits land. The nor'easter will develop to the south of where Sandy will hit so I would say around Norfolk.
The first difference is that the 200 miles of NJ coast plus more in other states will get surge and waves. The surge will be smaller of course, but wider. Second and more important the battering will last two tide cycles. That's why a nor'easter can be more destructive to the coastline than a hurricane. The Blizzard of 78 (not the midwest, but the New England one) pummeled the coast for days. Some high tides never left (there was never a low tide due to constant onshore wind).
The hurricane won’t follow the jet because it helps create the jet. Basically it’s a bubble in the jet marking time. Once it gets sucked into the developing coast low that low would follow the jet north, except by that time the jet will form into a cut-off upper low so that surface low will only slowly drift north (and weaken relatively quickly)
