President Obama Descends from America’s First Slave
ancestry ^

Posted on 10/29/2012 8:22:52 AM PDT by traumer

We’ve all heard about President Obama’s Irish roots, and we know his father came from Kenya. But a research team from Ancestry.com, the world’s largest online family history resource, has also concluded that the nation’s 44th president is also the 11thgreat-grandson of John Punch, the first documented African enslaved for life in American history.

And what’s more, the connection comes through President Obama’s Caucasian mother’s family.

This discovery follow years of research by Ancestry.com genealogists who, using early Virginia records and DNA analysis, linked Obama to John Punch. Punch was an indentured servant in Colonial Virginia who fled to escape servitude in 1640. After he was caught, his punishment was enslavement for life. Punch’s is the first documented case of slavery for life in the colonies, occurring decades before slavery laws were enacted in Virginia.

President Obama is traditionally viewed as an African American because of his father’s heritage in Kenya. However, while researching his Caucasian mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, Ancestry.com genealogists found her to have African heritage as well. Their interest piqued, the researchers kept digging. DNA analysis helped confirm that Dunham’s ancestors, known as white landowners in Colonial Virginia, actually descended from an African man. Existing records suggest that this man, John Punch, had children with a white woman who then passed her free status on to their offspring. Some of Punch’s descendants went on to be free, successful land owners in a Virginia entrenched in slavery.

I never watched that PBS TV show about Hollywierdos family history because the genealogists are all liberals.

The primary reason that there are now a lot of blacks involved in doing family history research is in order to establish official “slave blood” so as to get a place in line for the Obama forthcoming African American Reparations plan.

From what I have read, the first slaves were treated as “Indentured Servants” and were given their freedom after 17 years. Same for Indentured whites.

Indentures were for a period of seven years and were generally a means of repaying the cost of passage. At the end of seven years, most colonies provided for a grant of land and the purchase of farming implements.

Christians could not be sold as chattel, but non-christians could. The early colonies complained that persons released from their indentures did not become productive citizens, but became indigent troublemakers. So, they tried to find a more reliable source of labor. The colonists tried to enslave Indians, but this did not work well, as the Indians could easily run away. Their problem was solved by Portuguese merchants who showed up with African slaves bound for their colonies. This institution was legal in all colonies, but only became economically significant in southern colonies where plantation agriculture was practiced. In these early days, slaves could be granted their freedom by their owners, and some became slave holders themselves. Overtime, colonies and states tended to pass laws that made manumission difficult or illegal.

Highly plausible. Do the math. If members of each generation from this guy John Punch on down produced only four offspring each, there would be 67 million people (Maybe even Mitt Romney) who could claim direct descent.

Desperate people tend to clutch at straws.

ps - PghBaldy, let’s bring PA home for Romney/Ryan and SHOCK THE WORLD!!!!

As absurd as this probably bogus story seems, I can see some linkage between the two.

John Punch obtained slave status as punishment for running out on an indenture - a legal and voluntary contract. It's likely that he walked off with some one else's private property as well.
If he and Hussein have any relationship at all it's because neither one had/has any regard for legality and both seem to have strong interest in other people's stuff.

Note as well that most of us probably have indentured servants somewhere in the blood line and that you can still lose your freedom for commiting contract fraud, just not for as long a time.

(Sorry, spell check not working)

While they speculate he was descended from a slave through his mother, all they actually prove is he actually is descended from slave owners.

OBAMA CONSIDERS HIMSELF TO BE A SLAVE OF ALLAH.

Is that sufficient on the Obama ‘slavery’ issue?

No birth certificate. No clear indication who his father is. No college transcripts. No nothing. Yet we KNOW he is descended from the first slave.

How stupid do these people think we are?

Why are you re-posting this?

This issue was dealt with and dismissed on this site months ago. As a member of the Luo tribe, Obama's connection with slavery was on the retail side. This is nothing but a shabby attempt to establish some sort of "American Experience" for this mulatto charlatan. Given the inexorability of ancestory, if your family has been in America since the 18th century, or married into a family who has been here since then, you too can claim "descent" from the "Punch," or Robin Hood, for that matter.

Don't forget to take time away from your computer to vote against the Mombasa MF.

Absolutely not true. He’s a direct descendant of Lucifer and his real Birth Certificate shows his place of birth as “Hell”.
