A vessel with a nine-person crew and 700 tons of gold ore onboard has gone missing in stormy seas off Russia's Pacific Coast.

No one ships raw ore, this must be “ore concentrate” going to refinery and with much greater gold content.

And then some!

As a civil engineer, and 15 years welding and fabricating piping systems, I scream at those guys all of time. I keep telling my girl friend that I am going to try to get on with them just so I can fix their systems right instead of watching them fumble through the whole season.

I watched only a few episodes. Mostly it consists of overgrown children emoting over their issues and fumbling around with homemade junk while the expensive heavy equipment sets outside all winter without so much as a tarp over the engine.

This season, which started last Friday, they have brought in the real equipment. 3 heavy duty mining dump trucks, 3 large excavtors, 1- D9 and 1- D10 dozers, 3 new wash plants/sluice boxes.

Their new goal this year is 1,000 ounces (last year they only got 92 oz.)

Propbably still won’t help them!

Well now, let’s see...a thousand ounces (not likely) would be a million point seven dollars more or less. Pay the leases and operating costs of all that heavy equipment, divide the gold pie into several slices and let the tax man ‘dip his beak’, I figure the guys would just make wages.

Good for them if they do but to me it doesn’t look likely.

You forgot to mention to pay back all of the investors (Texas millionaires backed them this season) and the 10% lease on the mining claim.

I am sure each of the characters is getting paid for their appearances on the show. The gold they find and keep is just the icing on the cake for them.

I guess if they’re willing to work that hard to go broke imagine how they might work to make real money.
Sounds like a perfect motive/opportunity to skim a few nuggets or a bit of powder.

Or they may find as some guys I knew working on the pipeline did...when they came home after being gone a long time momma had found another man.

So much for “reality” t.v.
