Vanity: If Obama loses can he still be impeached?

Posted on 10/31/2012 11:30:10 AM PDT by ConservativeMan55

Say Obama loses the election and then these emails that Gingrich are talking about surface. And then eventually the videos come out.

Obama has LIED to the American people just like Clinton. Even though he wouldn't be around can elected officials still vote to impeach him? Even though it wouldn't be knocking him out of office per se? Just a mark on his record?

What are the ramifications of impeachment?

Nothing will happen to obama......nothing.
A precedent has been set and the next fool in line wants to get away with the same things.

Yeah but Obama has done more than any fool before or after him. He has the blood of four people on his hands.

I would bet he has his stack of pardons and executive orders all ready to go. It’s his get out of dodge pile. His ego is so huge he will feel humiliated in defeat, will probably sign everything and go golfing in Hawaii by Thanksgiving. I would be surprised to see him at the inaguration.

I wish there was a way to take away his ability to pardon.

Can a law be made that’s just about one person? I guess they did it with Terri Schiavo...

Are you a lawyer?

The punishment can’t be more than that, but punishment doesn’t have to be all that - as evidenced by Alcee Hastings removed from office as a judge but not barred from becoming a Congress-slimesman. That seems more like “and” means “and/or”.

How would we know what is the currently-accepted Constitutional interpretation? Has this been interpreted before?

No, I’m not a lawyer, but have studied a lot of the writings of the founders so I know a lot of the reasons behind constitutional provisions.

I believe that a law against a specific individual is a bill of attainder, and would be illegal but I’m not sure.

Charged for what crime? Benghazi shows he does not have what it takes to be the C in C, and it’s a really poor command decision of his not to help Americans in need.

Do we call that treason?

Now, if we had proof that he was running arms to our enemies in the Muslim world, that wold be treason. But I don’t see that evidence coming to light.

Good point. The running arms thing is what could get him in a lot of trouble.

First you start with the fact that he LIED about orders to stand down. Then you begin to dig deeper and deeper. Catch him in a few more lies.. and more evidence begins to trickle out.

It could happen.

Yes, until he leaves office.

Interestingly, the new Congress will be sworn in on 2 January, and Obama will not leave office until 20 January, so the House in the 113th Congress could, as its first act impeach him and send the matter to trial in the Senate with 18 days to remove him from office early.

(The resulting Biden administration would be very short-lived.)

If there were enough people in Congress who wanted to take away President Ryan’s pension they could always do it through a law anyway - I guess. Impeachment isn’t law enforcement; it’s to determine what position, honors, or privileges a person can have from the United States. As the AIG executives discovered, if Congress wants to take away bonuses, they can always impose a tax rate of 99% on bonuses. Don’t we currently have a “pay czar” to determine who can earn how much - and I think that’s not just about pay from the federal government.

So it depends on what the meaning of “and” is?

“He needs to be punished in some form or fashion by the justice system to deter others from this kind of activity.”

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams

Once our leaders lose the fear of God, we end up with the likes of Rapist Clinton or Obama seeming to get off “Scot Free”.

However, you may be able to thwart Justice,

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time”. Abraham Lincoln

but you cannot fool God.

Galatians 6:7-8 (The Message version)

Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds!

Revelation 20:11-15 (The Message)
Judgment

11-15 I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death—Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire.

What are the ramifications of impeachment? He should be impeached so that his reputation will be so damaged that he will not try to run for president ever again.

Only while he is in office.

Why do you think Michael Moore, a producer, made a commercial designed to turn off Americans? Dems know where this is going.

“Waste of time”. Ha. I can think of no better use of these SOB’s time then exposing corruption. Whether it results in a vote of impeachment or a senate trial is completely irrelevant. Hearings must be conducted to expose these criminal charges. Congress does nothing else anything except screw up our lives.

I really don't see that happening. With his record it will be impossible for him to run in the future. Liberals are going to start blaming him for failing to implement Socialist Nirvana when all the stars were aligned for him to do so. Other Dems will rip him to shreds in the primaries.
