God i hate the DRS!!!

Funny you should say that, as I would like to have it explained how it is NOT a "driver's aid" like the ABS and TC of the early 90's, which they outlawed. I know DRS helps make a race more interesting by facilitating more passing on the straights, but they didn't need such things many years ago.

Anyway, I wonder what happened to Vettel that he didn't make it back to the pits, and if there will be some penalty. If he gets moved back close to Alonso, it might make it interesting in the first few laps, but considering their Q times, it should be only a few laps before Vettel pulls away from him.

Ferrari is struggling, they need to get it together before they run out of races. The first part of the season was fun, but it's beginning to look like another Red Bull rout.

yes it's a drivers aid just like the KERS is, but... my objection is only the PASSING car can use it and NOT the defender and to me that is simply wrong on a couple levels

i dint see the Q so i don't know what happened but the kid prolly will pull away unless there's mayhem on the track

In the post-Q interview Vettel mentioned something about his brakes. Now, I know the engineers told him to stop the car immediately, so there must a problem there. The Red Bull "invincibility" seems to run hot-and-cold, LOL; sometimes bulletproof, sometimes full of gremlins!

I've checked the official F1 site, but there's no word on any RB problems or what, if anything, will happen to Vettel for not making it back to the pits.

I don't think Hamilton has a chance at the championship and Webber might statistically, but not realistically. That leaves Alonso and Vettel. It seems like Ferrari is struggling, so Alonso is going to have to pull a Mansell or Prost or Senna this race or at Austin (where it could be decided).

I hope Abu Dhabi is an interesting race. The past 2 or 3 have been pretty boring with Vettel running away with it all from the very start.

LOL!

I kinda lean to Vettel (he seems like a nice kid and not like Schumi in his early years). But Webber, Hamilton, Button - they seem like decent folk you can root for, too.

I just want some serious competition and racing. I don't want to see someone run away with it all; that gets boring so fast.

Well, looks like RB isn’t going to run away with it this weekend (at least as far as Vettel is concerned).

But please remind me - what was it that Alonso did at McLaren that has caught your disfavor? Must’ve slipped my mind, or perhaps it isn’t brought up in every other broadcast like the sins of MS in past days. (In temporary ignorance of Alonso’s misdeeds: I like the guy. Focused, not bitching about the recent accidents which were none of his fault, driving the t*ts off an underperforming Ferrari...)

Back to today’s post-qualy comments by Horner:

“As a result, the FIA has excluded Sebastian from qualifying and we will withdraw the car from Parc Ferme in order to investigate further. Therefore Sebastian will start from the pit lane for tomorrow’s race. We will need to make the most of Mark’s strong front-row grid position and Sebastian will have a busy evening ahead of him.”

Note the second part of that first sentence! “Withdraw the car from Parc Ferme in order to investigate further”! Could be that they knew full well that something was toast and now they can fix it out of Parc Ferme conditions...

As to tomorrow: If Alonso survives the start and first few corners (Maldonado right up there in the fray!!!) he’ll make up a few points on Vettel and it’ll be even again for the next round in Texas.

Ecclestone engineering at its finest!

first was his constant whining about Lew always getting the hot setup which was pure cBS and second, was his trying to blackmail Ron Dennis with his knowledge of McLaren having propriety Ferrari documents to which Ron told him to go 0bama himself and went to the FIA with the documents on his own and paid the ultimate price of losing all their constructors points that year

Dang, you’re right. He was a devious bastard. I tend to remember more of the on-track transgressions than the off-track BS that happens, I guess.

Now that was an interesting race!!

Very good pit strategy from RB for Vettel (with a heavy dose of luck from crashing cars and two Safety Cars!). Still, he drove the beejeezus out of his car to finish third from dead last.

On to Texas (I wish I was going to be back home in time for that race, but it is not meant to be).
