"It is irresponsible for the union to give notice of its intent to strike at a time when Red Cross attentions are focused on relief efforts for Superstorm Sandy and helping those impacted by the Nor'easter," Tornetta said. "A strike in our area threatens to disrupt blood collection operations at a time when those impacted by these storms are unable to give and are relying on non-affected areas."

“..the Red Cross employs about 50 union members who support blood drive operations.”

Gives meaning to the term “union bloodsuckers”.

That's the plan.

Andrea Mitchell was right. The Red Cross only wants blood and money. Gotta feed those Union parasites...

The RED Cross on strike?
This is a GOOD thing.
All labor unions should strike whenever they get a chance.
It's important that Americans see these hardworking folks demanding and getting their fair share. And the more the nation is discomfited by labor union strikes the better that is.

ALL HAIL OBAMA!

Appalling. Note that there are union and non-union members from out of State who are assisting in utility restoration. They are making overtime but not complaining about working and housing conditions.

Red Cross says it all. They are Reds and they are cross!!

Off topic: My grandparents raised ten children - (mid-wife, home delivery) without electricity or running water. They used a wood stove to heat water and cook. No washer or dryer; outhouse toilet, well water and septic tank, oil lamps & candles: Their biggest luxury was a battery operated radio during WWII. They raised chickens for eggs & grew vegetables & fruit. I believe they filled the bathtub once a week and everyone took turns;)

If they were alive today - they could have coped with Sandy by using the barbecue to cook food and the fireplace to heat the house. Water might have been the only problem.

It is their time of maximum leverage; why wouldn’t they do this now?
