4. FDR’s Great Society - the bulwark of the social welfare state.

It was Lyndon Baines Johnson (IMO THE worst president ever) who damned America with his Great Society programs, not FDR.
Roosevelt did a lot of harm with his New Deal, but it did not cripple America as Johnson did with his policies.
