NBC will likely broadcast and edited 1 hour version delayed on race day ... Qualifiying and practice are likely no longer broadcast

unfortunately, you're prolly not too far off the mark...I suspect that NBC will utilize their NBC Sports Channel, which is a relative newcomer to the cable spectrum. They've only been on my channel lineup since the end of the summer (with Post-Olympic coverage). But they've already carried major college basketball games (albeit in addition to hunting shows, and the like, sigh.)
I am hoping they'll be hungry and build out the non-NASCAR racing series. In fact, yesterday they had a (yes, edited and taped) Viper Cup series race from Virginia Intl. Color me optimistic and even have been hoping for them to sign onto WRC coverage next season. They have a real opportunity to brand themselves at this point.
