Yeah, from post race statements by Ferrari it didn’t sound like they were going to protest. Hope they’re “man enough” to stick by that.

Correction to my previous post: That would’ve been Kobayashi Vettel passed, not Perez (who didn’t make it through the first lap).

Nice that Petrov drove Caterham into 10th in the Constructors. Too bad he did not score a point. For Caterham it would have been almost like winning a race.

did I hear today that NBC will be covering the GP net year?

Bob Varsha(sp) stays at SPEED and the other three go to NBC

NBC will likely broadcast and edited 1 hour version delayed on race day ... Qualifiying and practice are likely no longer broadcast

what a shame

I suspect that NBC will utilize their NBC Sports Channel, which is a relative newcomer to the cable spectrum. They've only been on my channel lineup since the end of the summer (with Post-Olympic coverage). But they've already carried major college basketball games (albeit in addition to hunting shows, and the like, sigh.)

I am hoping they'll be hungry and build out the non-NASCAR racing series. In fact, yesterday they had a (yes, edited and taped) Viper Cup series race from Virginia Intl. Color me optimistic and even have been hoping for them to sign onto WRC coverage next season. They have a real opportunity to brand themselves at this point.

Yes. Buried at the SPEED website is a story about NBCS (220 on DirecTV) taking over F1 coverage starting next season. I look at this move with some trepidation. The NBCS website is full of team-type sports and very little racing. Granted, SPEED is full of NASCAR and car auctions, but I feel we are going to be a little disappointed in next season's F1 coverage. I just don't think NBCS knows enough about the sport to do it justice, but we will see.

IMO, SPEED could do a better job of covering racing, you know, being the kind of network/channel that they claim to be. I see little coverage of Aussie Super V8s, and have yet to see the New Zealand Super Tourer V8s, which I like better. More GP2 and LMS/ALMS (not just LE Mans and Mid-Ohio, etc).

And what has happened to Indycar? I remember back in '91, '92, etc. Indycar (known as CART then) was big. Almost every race was shown on TV. But now? Whither goest, Indycar? It seems interest in the sport died off with CART, except for the Indy 500. At least it did for me.

Ah, CART, in the halcyon days of Emerson and a post-F1 Nigel and Rahal and Tracy. I saw a few Mid-Ohio late summer events, being awoken in our tent just 50 feet from the main back straight as the first practice lappers blasted by at 150+.

The split really wrecked the sport, and while money is money, and power and influence are always sought by the powers that (want to) be, it chased me off too. I actually became interested in F1 during those early 90’s and it effectively replaced any interest in Champ Car.

Maybe NBC will put extra effort into it now that the Austin event went off as such a HUGE success. Anyway, here’s hoping.

Actually most of the Indycar races are on NBCSports which was called Versus until this year.

Except for the Indy 500 on ABC and a couple others on ESPN.

One of the problems with NBCSports is that it has a relatively small number of cable systems carrying it. Like everybody else they want to be ESPN someday when they grow up but competition is fierce.

Ahhhhh!! I remember Versus (now, LOL!).

I'm not too interested in Indycar anymore since CART folded. I kinda' prefer the F1 style, with constructors and drivers battling it out. Feeder series should be one car, one engine, to more easily compare the drivers. But the pros? Well, some guys like building the cars, others like to race them.

Plus, I'm not a fan of ovals. But it does seem like Indycar is doing more road courses now.

here it comes... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/20531638

Formula 1: Ferrari consider Sebastian Vettel protest

Ferrari want to establish whether there is enough evidence to lodge a protest that, if successful, could overturn the result of the Formula 1 world championship.

They are "evaluating footage" that appears to show Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel making an illegal overtaking move in Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.

Spain's Fernando Alonso lost the title by three points to his German rival.

But Vettel could lose four points if he is deemed to have broken the rules.

Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, has so far refused to confirm that it is investigating the incident.

There is no word either from Vettel's Red Bull team, who could not be contacted for a comment.

Even if they are 100% correct, I’m not sure Ferrari has the political F1 ‘juice’ any longer to make this fly. I might be way wrong on that but the entire thing will be interesting to say the least.

The Ferraristas should shut up, deal with 2012, release Alonso and toss an offer over to Seb.

And I really, really like Alonso. But Vettel needs to be in a red car.

One of my greatest regrets in this life is that I never got to see Senna drive one.

yup, the Prancing Horse is like a drug... even when they aren't competitive drivers still would kill to drive for them, maybe even Seb

and they were lucky this year in that Lew and McLaren stepped on their own tails every chance they got or they wouldn't even be second, but that's racing
