“pre-sale estimate of 30,000 pounds.”

Typo? Methinks there’s three zeros missing.

Too bad they didn’t just give up and return to being petty criminals.

If it's as good as Meet The Beatles then its going to be a million seller. Defunct Decca records may have a last laugh.

Just found this yesterday;

McCartney guitar fetches £330,000
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5224118.stm

The Rex acoustic guitar helped Sir Paul persuade John Lennon to let him join his band, The Quarrymen, in 1957.

He impressed Lennon by playing songs and chords on it at a Liverpool fete.

Me Again:
This was the listing that lead me to the Beatle, similar to one of my old finds, though mine was $7.99, and will need a lot of rehab;

****sound quality on it is said to be pristine****

The sound quality may be “pristine” but the quality of the sound may be somewhat lacking.

There was a story that the Decca guy who passed on the Beatles was the same one who signed the Rolling Stones.

I don't know if it is true, but I hope it is.

Don’t believe the hype. It’s been released numerous times on vinyl and this is a later safety copy of the master tape.

And it’s been sold to a collector as recently as 2002 so it clearly wasn’t “lost”.

It is thought the Beatles' manager Brian Epstein held on to the tape he had paid to make and later gave it to an executive associated with EMI. He sold it in 2002 to a prolific buyer of music memorabilia. He is now selling it at auction with a pre-sale estimate of 30,000 pounds.

Brian probably voted Democrat this year, too. I mean, he's only been dead since 1967.

I cherish Decca as a great classical music label. Rejecting the Beatles? Who cares.

So some record exec from Decca rejects The Beatles. It happens. Even Elvis Presley was told to go back to driving a truck. And when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak were playing around with computer parts in that garage, they were told to get real jobs. And they did, for a little while.

I happen to think rejection is a good thing. It toughens you up and makes it more likely you will succeed in the long run if you are so sure of yourself that you can reject rejection. If on the other hand, you accept rejection, you were probably never going to make it anyhow and the rejector just saved you some time and aggravation.

So to all the rejectors and rejectees in the world, I hoist my glass of ale and salute you all.

The entire item is “cover” songs, written by someone else, not the Beatles. WHO would want this? Other than beatle fanatics. It is not the creative unit of the writing/playing talent that was to be.

But of course in the vast wasteland of dancing with america’s got no talent idols, someone feels this tape would have value. IF it got current writers to create similar excitement in modern songwriting then maybe it is a good thing. Otherwise, it is like buying old 45s of second rate performance. The Beatles forte was LIVE performance and their own writing of melodic original music.

Decca went with the Temeloes who are a talented band but also guitar-based.
