I remember my Mother thought “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming” was extremely funny. I later saw it and thought it was OK but still can’t figure why Mother loved it so much.

Because it was funny! "Please to remove from street." Alan Arkin and Carl Reiner were hilarious. And maybe your mom had lived in a small town of that era. Little towns really do have their Muriel Evanses who call the cops over any little thing!

Narrowing it to three is tough:

1. It's A Gift

2. The Quiet Man

3. The Miracle of Morgan's Creek

Other strong candidates: You Can't Take It With You, Ball Of Fire, Young Frankenstein, Bringing Up Baby, Christmas In Connecticut (1945), Hail the Conquering Hero, Some Like It Hot, The Odd Couple, The Bank Dick, The Sin of Harold Diddlebock, Mr. Deeds Goes To Town, The Court Jester, White Christmas, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World--If I don't quit soon I'll be here all night.

My favorite comedy film?

“IT’S A GIFT” (1934) with W.C. Fields.

Never fails to crack me up.

The Pink Panther series is great! I also like Peter Sellers’ AFTER THE FOX.

That’s my choice for Fields’ best. The Bank Dick, You’re Telling Me, You Can’t Cheat An Honest Man, The Man On The Flying Trapeze, Poppy, et al are good movies but It’s A Gift is perhaps the funniest movie ever made IMHO.

Nothing will ever beat this (not even the unintentional comedy of a historical catastrophe that I mentioned earlier):

You are a maniac, man.

Fearless, and correct (Jerry Seinfeld/Larry David agreed with you, if you recall) but a maniac nonetheless.

Your posts are mandatory reading. Unless there are too many of them, of course...cqnlol.
