SOP’s can be both in printed form and stored electronically. It is suggested that SOP’s be stored in hard copy form in a binder – possibly having the individual pages laminated to make them water resistant. Let me give you a few examples of a situations that a SOP would be beneficial: THSTF and communication is down and the kids are at school – Who gets the kids? Without some planning ahead of time so that everyone understands what is to happen under these circumstances – resources could be wasted (and the kids left at school!) TSHTF and travel home is impossible – where do you meet your group/family? Lets face reality – it could happen. A chemical spill could prevent you from reaching home. If communications are up – you could just place a call. If the nature of the “incident” is such that communications are down – does every one know where to meet? Your water supply has become interrupted – what steps do you take to provide non-contaminated water to your family? TSHTF and the power has been off for a few days and people are becoming desperate – what steps do you take to improve security on your property?

Will read later. Last year I had little walkie-talkies in the kid’s backpacks for school just in case, and had a loose plan with neighbors, etc.
Keep meaning to find the radios for this year, schools have changed, neighbors have moved.....
The most likely scenario for us is a large earthquake, so travel would probably be a problem. Although if we are home, school is an easy walk.

Standing operation procedure

I’m in the middle of putting together a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP- I love it how you guys have initials for everything) for my 5 LB. YORKIE, name is Prissy, little over one year old.
I ordered a camouflage “unit” (that would be a CU) in which to hide her so I can take her into hotels and elsewhere with no one knowing she is there.
The camouflage part is that it looks like a lady’s red, zippered purse. It has black air hole netting on the sides for air but from the front and back it’s just a lady’s handbag.
She is not much of a barking or yapping little dog. She stays quiet most of the time unless she sees something moving outside, then she goes nuts barking and runs to tell me.
I’ve carried her in a hotel before by putting her in a shopping bag. She stayed in the bag but if she had decided to stick her head out, we would have been “busted”. We stayed two nights in that hotel with my carrying her in and out in the bag.
I’ll get her used to the purse, so when it’s important, she won’t reject the purse.
SOP: If the SHTF and I have to leave, don’t forget to put Prissy in the purse!

I also had a small bag they were used to, and could smuggle them one at a time into the room.
12 years ago I stayed in a Residence Inn for six months, and paid a one-time fee to have them in the room. Fee was reasonable.

I can see where a hotel would be concerned about dogs with fleas. Prissy doesn’t know what a flea is. She is a “house” dog or she is in my small garden where no dogs or cats have been. Plus, I put her heart worm and flea liquid (which is together in a little container), on the back of her neck every month. She is not around other dogs.
She is a sweet dog who loves everyone. She loves the lady UPS driver and knows the sound of that truck when it goes by. If it stops at our door, she goes bonkers - the UPS lady is here!!
She and I rule the world together - the world just doesn’t know it.
