A great white shark that researchers have named Mary Lee has captured the public's imagination all along the East Coast.
She is 16 feet long, weighs 3,500 lbs. and is swimming around just off the Grand Strand.
The latest satellite ping for Mary Lee shows she was about a mile or so off the coast of North Myrtle Beach Wednesday afternoon.

I knew the reporter couldn't complete an article like this without saying something really, really stupid.
As someone who spends more time in the ocean than the average person I find comments like this uncommonly asinine.
Reporter = stupid; in school, those that go into journalism are NOT forgoing potential careers as brain surgeons.

Let me explain how “glad” works, jackass: I’m GLAD this thing doesn’t have legs because I’d be living in terror it would walk up and eat my house.
They usually travel in pairs anyone seen the other one?
Water’s a little warm south of Hatteras for a Great White, even in late November. This is unusual.
This shark was also tagged off Chatham, Mass. this year by a Private outfit.
They used a different type of tag, requiring the shark to be removed from the water onto a platform and a tag bolted to the dorsal.
They tagged 2 whites off Chatham this summer using that method. -Tom
