Instead of being scared a great white is off our coastline, Abel says we should be glad.

I knew the reporter couldn't complete an article like this without saying something really, really stupid.

As someone who spends more time in the ocean than the average person I find comments like this uncommonly asinine.

Reporter = stupid; in school, those that go into journalism are NOT forgoing potential careers as brain surgeons.

“Instead of being scared a great white is off our coastline, Abel says we should be glad.”

Let me explain how “glad” works, jackass: I’m GLAD this thing doesn’t have legs because I’d be living in terror it would walk up and eat my house.

Water’s a little warm south of Hatteras for a Great White, even in late November. This is unusual.

Mass. Div. Marine Fisheries has tagged 31 white sharks off Chatham Mass. since 2009.

This shark was also tagged off Chatham, Mass. this year by a Private outfit.
They used a different type of tag, requiring the shark to be removed from the water onto a platform and a tag bolted to the dorsal.
They tagged 2 whites off Chatham this summer using that method. -Tom
