KERRVILLE, Texas - He was thrown in jail and now a San Antonio man is facing charges over a little dog he says he was trying to rescue. Elvis Hernandez said he tried helping a dachshund but instead he ended up with a criminal record.
A few months ago, Hernandez was helping a customer in the city of Ingram when he found the dog.
"It was cute. It was running in the middle of the road," recalls Hernandez. "He didn't have tags; didn't have a collar."
According to Hernandez he tried to give the dog a home but when she didn't get along with his other dog he gave it away.

This dachshund story reminds us why Shakespeare wrote what he did about lawyers.
PS I recommend a book, The UnNatural History of Lawyers.
It traces the general hatred of lawyers back to the time of Hammurabi. Yup, there were lawyers back then. Yup, they were hated then, too.

None of this makes sense. But then again it involves a dachsund and they will turn your life upside down every time.

Sounds as if this good Samaritan hasn’t even been to court yet....so much for due process ...and being innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. ///oh never mind [hate lawyers]

Short of leg...*long* on personality. And *long* on running the house too.
Is that a pure dachsund. Looks like some beagle in there. But those eyes are pure dachsund -- sizing you up for the next dance he makes you do.

I’m surprised that the police didn’t shoot the dog.

My daughter has a `Teckel,’ mouse-gray, and a real ball of fire. I would love to introduce him to my bulldog but, gee, maybe not a good idea!

The story is so poorly written that it is difficult to make a lot of sense out of it. Sadly, this seems to be common these days.
However, if the original owner really cared about the dog and really wanted to get it back if lost, he would have had a collar with an ID tag on the dog and had it "chipped."

While chipping is no guarantee the collar and tags go a long way. all of my dogs have had collar with their name and my phone number in 1/4 high letters.

Looks like Jesus didn't think much of them either! (LOL!)

I’d never considered Doxies as pets prior to meeting my wife. We’d always been a big dog family with Mastiffs, Dobies, and a few retrievers. When I met my wife and learned she had a long-haired doxie, I was very unsure of how that would pan out.
Despite some difficulties with house training and general pig-headedness, that little pup has me wrapped around her finger to that point that when she passes (she’ll be 13 on Saturday), I want to adopt another one. They are full of personality and I do like a challenge when it comes to obedience.
