The Second GCC Camel Race Championship kicked off here yesterday evening under the sponsorship of His Highness Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Saba.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Jahra Governor Sheikh Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the representative of the championship sponsor, said a large number of camel owners from the six GCC member states are taking part in the race. He hoped that Gulf fans would be able to enjoy the camel-racing sports, which used to be practiced by Gulf forefathers.

For his part, the head of the organizing committee and chairman of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Faisal Al-Jazzaf said the authority is keen to support all hereditary sports championships. Many Kuwaiti and Gulf citizens are very interested in camel-racing sport, he said. The event is being held at the Track of Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Which are faster, one-humpers or two-humpers?

The one-humpers live in the middle east, the two-humpers in central Asia, I doubt if they ever race one another, and I don’t know if they race at all in central Asia.

Meanwhile, as the rich sheikhs play, the poor people in Syria may be facing even worse. All their internet service was suddenly cut off, which indicates that Assad ordered it done, probably so he could have a major offensive and murder spree which would be hard to report or defend against.

Yes. Well, maybe they’ll race the onehumpers against the twohumpers, and we’ll find out which is faster. They can put it in u_toob, right next to all the corvette-mustang race videos. As for syria (and so much of the muslim world) they seem to need to kill kill kill. I regret I have no answer (other than the obvious that we need to recognize the threat and defend ourselves as best we can—and certainly stop our govt from promoting or defending the muslimbrothers, iranimullahs, etc)

Who can say? Rumor has it that The Profit,Moe Hammered, was a one humper with the little girls and a two humper with the little boys.

we read that the one-humpers are lighter and have slightly longer legs than the two-humpers (who also have more fur weighing them down),
so ... just guessing ... it appears that maybe the one-humpers may be faster?

(hope someone will post a race on U-Toob soon! it is hard to sleep without knowing....)
